Brian, Bob, Rich and I discuss the state of the Giants Roster at this point in the season after FA signings and touch on the Draft. Next week we go into the Draft in depth.

I am curious.  What have the Giants done or said that would be considered "telegraphing"?  About 100% of the media stuff surrounding Draft picks are articles like Ranaan's.
If you read the article closely, Jordan is basing his so-called "prediction" on two things: Reese was at his Pro Day and talks with league sources.  There is no "inside" leak from anyone in the Giants' organization that he has referred to.  Besides, what scout would spill the beans to a reporter like Ranaan that they are focusing in on Cunningham?

As others have alluded to - this is just one of many predictions that will be focusing on who the Giants might draft.  But if the truth be told, Ranaan doesn't know anymore about who the Giants are going to draft than anyone on this Board.

Yes and they don't even know yet.

I would have said no way the Giants pick an LB #1 but after hearing the love John Mara has for Flowers, LB may be their No. 1 priority   :surprise:

Yeah, I don't get this either. I would expect seven other positions picked before Linebacker. Do any of you draftnics have Cunningham ahead of McCaffrey or Garett Bolles in your First Round Grades?

We saw the Shack last week. I liked it very much but Linda thought it was just ok. Not for everyone.

We saw The Lion King in 3D Imax surround sound. It was delightful. I don't know if it would be better or worse at home or on the regular screen theater.

Ed:

I use the Windows' snipping tool to capture screenshots from the NFL Gamepass "coaches film," then add the illustrations with Paint. Semi low-tech.

Let's credit them then.

The play started with recognizing the RG pull that negated his double team as the Center now has to pick up Hankins. Collins took the wrong initial step and exposed his outside shoulder. It's also an example of well executed team work by the Giants. Good breakdown, Matt. Where are you getting the photography from?

It's also how a team grades the player. If they don't fit the system, the grade for one team will be lower than a team the player does fit, like LB or DL. Also, a team picking in the low first round will pick a second round player if the grades are close.

By rounds 5-7 and sometimes 4-7, teams look at filling needs or backup or Special Teams. Especially in rounds 5-7. So, BPA does not apply. As I see Rich just mentioned.

Here is a good example of what the article is talking about in this nice evaluation of Gareon Conley and his use of hands. It's a make or break for a Defensive Back.

Looks like DE is off the table....whats left?

Best Player Available. There are no guarantees in life and in football. I can see them picking a OT, DB, WR...but DT would make the most sense if the player was a starting caliber 3T.

The addition of a big 6'4/ 230lb, topnotch "go across the middle", and red zone/ end zone receiver in Brandon Marshall and a very solid blocker and outlet receiving FB/HBack in Rhett Ellison strikes me as a predetermined plan which diminishes the likelihood that the Giants will draft a TE in Round 1.
Cheers!

That's how I see it too.

I forget where I heard it (but I am pretty sure it was a former NFL GM or scout) but I heard something that sounded the struck me as a good point when it comes to the measurables issues for prospects.  I will paraphrase,  when it comes to measurables of prospects there are going to be some that will beat the odds and play even without the desired measurables.  However, with the draft already a gamble why decrease your odds?

That's why it takes film study however some of these players don't play in an NFL ready system or Offense. Here's what I do know...After two years at LT, should a player know how to get the feet and hands correctly? Same with a Guard. John Jerry is never gonna be a good Run Blocking Guard because his reflexes are too slow. It appears that Flowers is going to get a third year to prove he has the head and the motivation to get the mechanics of the position down.

Does anyone here know for sure what is factored into the grade system the Giants use to grade a player?

In my opinion, you have to look at what Jerry Reese and his Team believe after years of working the Draft feel is a position worthy of a first round Pick. Of course the Giants are not in second round territory but they are in the bottom third of the selection. They have shown that OL, Receiver, DL and DB are worthy of first round selection. QB may also be included because of Eli's age and fall from effectiveness off the previous season. Perhaps they will look at the grades of the players available at those positions and if they are weak look down and see that their second round choice may not be there because of a run on a position.

For a TE or RB to be picked in the first round I think the player would have to be very special.
