Although, considering they just traded away their extra draft capital, one has to wonder if the idea of trading up is still in play.

There is always future #1s.
Seems like it would take a lot to get any 1 of the top 3 to move out given the need at QB for those teams.

If the cost is 3 2nd round picks I Pay it tomorrow. No one is going to take this team seriously until a new Qb is in place.

Where are 3 2nd round picks coming from? The Giants only have one for this draft. Are you talking about future #2s?
Would be surprised if they can move up with 2nd rounders in 2024, 2025 and 2026, especially given that future picks are generally graded as the bottom of the round for these deals.

Definitely makes it more challenging.

A couple weeks ago the word was that the going rate to move up from 6 to 3 was 3 2nd rd picks which in my opinion is a steal if you get your guy.
I don't see how they do it without giving up this year's 2 and next year's 1st at the very least. Realistically, the only one that might work is with the Chargers.

I would be pissed....giving up all that draft capital?? Just take Malik Nabers or Rome Odunze at #6
It's all part of the pre-draft poker game at a table of 32. Due diligence as well. Also there are GM's gathering intel on what it would take for the Giants to move back from six. In all likelihood 3 QB's and Harrison will be off the board before Harbaugh goes at 5. Does he go OL?

Correctamundo. Can't stand a likely pro bowl wr? Don't get it. Stand pat..get your #1 wr, add a CB, then a DT. That would be ideal for me..
OT is now off the table at 6. QB or WR for sure.
Music to my ears. Hey, you can't force any of these teams to make a reasonable trade, but at least that they're working the phones and not taking anything for granted is encouraging.
Trade down twice from 6 and collect picks...probably get a #1 for 2025 out of it.
More picks to build the roster, and ammo to move up in '25 to get that QB

there has to be a qb in 2025 to do that and currently there isn't.
Lot of smoke around the Giants and fields right now for a 4th rd pick etc.
YES YES YES!!!!! LETS GET A QB!!!!!

Not if it means trading up and giving away this year's number 2 , next year's number 1 and 2 plus
Wow. That's a statement.
What a difference a year makes
The Vikings are going to look to trade up. .JJ? Harbaugh is a likely partner..wants to add talent cheap and avoid the Charger card with the Bolts so deep in cap trouble (Just cut wr Williams).
Giants have to be on top of that scenario as well. Gets real interesting now.
As a reminder...it's "Lyin Season" and red herrings are thrown out by talking heads and beat writers that mean absolutely nothing. Schoen ain't tipping his hand weeks before the draft. Any conversation such as the one suggested means nothing...just smoke and mirrors, and writers needing "hits"
And trading down twice in the first round does NOT require a QB left on the board. There are also some no.1 WRs in this draft as well as some stud ERs like Chop Robinson, Dallas Turner, Verse, and Latu...and then there's OTs like Alt, Fashunau, Fuaga, Latham. There are teams that will be desperate for an ER, or OT, or CB and fear getting jumped. You think that teams won't trade up to get a Harrison, or Odunze, or Nabors, Thomas, Mitchell? It's crazy to think no one would trade up in the first ONLY to get a QB. Hell, last year we traded up in the first to get Banks (not a QB)
It all depends on team needs and the availability on the board, coupled with fear of missing out on the targeted player...happens every year...and not always for a QB
Jolly,
It's also Stupid Season for a lot of teams GMs.A consideration if someone offers the Giants a package for the 6th pick; that would be ideal with our deficiencies to be met.
Case in point: The Panthers trading up for their munchkin qb. last year.
Quote from: Philosophers on March 13, 2024, 02:14:00 PMOT is now off the table at 6. QB or WR for sure.
or corner.
Former GMs I hear on the radio all say that this type of stuff is standard practice just to see what teams are asking. I would guess teams have been in contact or will be in contact with the Giants about the #6 pick.

"Currently" being the operative word.
There's the entire Spring/Summer and college football season before anyone can make that declaration.
Further, there's no lock for the old "generational" tag on any of this class.
So build the roster first...then wring your hands over the QB.

It's always dangerous to use an outlier as an example, but a lot can happen in a year. Joe Burrow wasn't JOE BURROW until his last college season.

I agree, but normally qb classes are talked about 2 years in advance. Like we all knew 2024 was going to be a year, while most see 2025 as a redo of 2022 were you have 1 guy in the 1st that is a mid 1st round guy and a bunch of day 2 guys.
I still have an incredibly hard time seeing any team in the top three parting with their pick. I'd love to be wrong and see it happen, but it's just an unbelievably hard thing for me to envision. All three are incredibly QB-needy (assuming the Bears are moving on from Fields which seems close to certain), and this is the best QB draft in some time.
The other thing is, in the event that this were going to somehow happen, I see zero chance that our 2025 first rounder would not be part of the equation, regardless of what any "reports" have claimed. It would cost us that pick plus a decent bit more. The value of going from 6 to 3 (or 1 or 2) this year is exorbitant. If one of these teams' picks is actually for sale, rest assured there will be other suitors, and they will hold our feet to the fire. As they should.

Logic like this does not have many fans here!
One point to add, for what it's worth, the QB prospects for 2025 are considered to be weak compared to this draft

It is not just about needing a QB. For arguments sake, New England may like McCarthy better than one of the top-3 and feel they can trade down and still get him. I always say this with the NFL and NHL draft, experts can rank the guys all they want. "Draft gurus" can run 345,192 mocks. One thing they all have in common is NONE of them are actually making the picks. Chicago could for arguments sake, be ready move on from Fields, but may not love any of these prospects as much as others. Could decide to trade down for a haul and pick up a QB later or pickup someone in FA as a filler.

Yup, I get that it's not impossible. I just struggle to see it is all. Feels like a pipe dream.
If I'm proven wrong, and it happens, I'll be very happy.

He could be the Josh Allen of this Draft. Meaning he's got the Arm and he's coachable. And then there is this:

I'm open to Maye. My buddy follows a lot of college football. He said if he was Schoen, Maye would be his first choice. Daniels would be #2.
Giants need to move if they want a particular player. Doubt highly they are indifferent to any of the four QBs.
