Well - it's almost 10:00 and Lenn has checked in so I wanted to discuss this word a bit. I was trimming my beard back this morning (always do that during the summertime heat) so the first word that popped into my head was "trim" and if I add an "s" then I get three letters that I like to get out of the way, i.e., S,T,and R

So I got "R" and "M". Having "M" as the second to last letter is baffling. Only "Y" makes any sense as the last letter following "M", but gave it a shot using different vowels as also a possibility. I had the "R", but didn't know where it would go and I kept trying different ideas, none that made a sensible word that ended with "MY". I had already tried words that started with "R", but didn't think of the word that was eventually the correct answer. After walking away a few times and going through my morning routine of reading news, Sudoku, Daily Trivia, etc., I came back and threw in the only word I could even think of and I lucked out

Really weird that have gotten the correct answer in two attempts that is twice as many as my correct response of three attempts and more than my four attempts. So my graph looks like if I don't get it in two attempts, then it's five or six attempts...which five attempts are by far my most common success. Just strange...to me anyway

Brilliant move to take this thread to the next level by discussing how we solved the puzzle rather than just showing our resulting attempts. I think the 10:00 AM is a good rule and all of us who play the game pretty much do so before we go here anyway. Great idea!  :worship:

I already explained mine in a previous post, but here's the snapshot anyway

Quote from: MightyGiants on July 16, 2022, 07:29:37 AMFirst off what a bunch of old men we are, in my younger days waking up at 10 or later was the norm for my days off.   =))

Second, I am good with the spoiler rule

Third, I use the walk away rule for non-urgent IT problems when I find myself stumped.  Walk away, relax, take your mind off the problem and often the solution will just hit you.
During the week, I'm usually up by 6 and out the door before 7. If I have vehicles on the schedule for Saturday, the routine is pretty much the same. On days I don't have to work, I rarely sleep past 8. Last week Sunday, the wife and I woke up around 630, laid in bed, and when I looked at the clock, it was exactly 10! I looked at my wife and said, "YES! We slept late!"

Early on, playing Wordle, I wanted to solve it quickly. I've been doing as you do; taking a step back and not rushing it.

I tried the hard rules where you have to use the learned letters.  It does offer an interesting change-up in the game

That's really good Ed, considering you only had one letter after two tries and it wasn't in the right place  =D>

I had two letters in the wrong place and used up a lot of key letters. Still it took me 20 minutes to get the word.

On the one hand, I felt pretty good that I got this word on my fourth guess, although I am really not sure what else fit at that point.
