Quote from: MightyGiants on Today at 09:28:42 AMYeah, he took fewer targets in camp, but he didn't step up when Waller got hurt and he had a chance to shine

True, and it's not a Jones issue - nor am I intimating that - he played with all 3 QBs.

Quote from: MightyGiants on Today at 09:26:00 AMBellinger needs to focus less on his biceps and more on making an NFL body

Maybe so.

I suspect (but don't have the stats) that he took far fewer targets in camp, and the season generally, with addition of Waller.

Bellinger reminds me of Kevin Boss and to a lesser degree, Jake Ballard. I think he just needs the ball. Hopefully Johnson is on that ilk too.

If Bellinger returns to rookie year production and Johnson can replicate that, I'd be very happy and more weapons for the QB is useful.

However, if both replicate last year's version of Bellinger, that's not massively useful.

I thought the Rangers were unlucky last night.

The first two Canes goals came off dreadful D zone turnovers, they then rallied to get back to parity. I thought the refs let a lot more go last night and the Canes got away with a number of penalties - Trocheck was the victim of a double cross check and a then a third as he was on the floor in the 2nd, that one stands out.

Perhaps the Canes took liberties because there was no Rempe. I didn't think Bronzinski added that much, so I'd start Rempe Monday.

Ultimately the Rangers had chances to win but they came up just short. Whilst I didn't expect to win last night, I didn't see anything last night that has me worried. I fully expect Rangers to close on Monday. So much so that once we got the 2nd goal, I was quite relaxed and almost knew the 3rd would come - Igor was locked in and the high volume Canes shooters were being contained.

All in all, 3-1 through 4 is a great place to be.

Quote from: MightyGiants on May 11, 2024, 09:41:01 AMThere's no need to "tap out;" I find it fascinating how other fans think. When I saw this, my first thought was, "Why are they including run-blocking in their support formula?"  It's always interesting to see how differently people can perceive the same information

Also surprising to see the Bucs ranked high but with a low grade for last year.

Does that mean that Mayfield out performed his cast?

We know he's had a bad supporting cast. Nobody has disputed that. Herbert is readily knocked around here despite his cast not being much better but the raw numbers are.

Sorry that was difficult to discern.

I am surprised to see the steelers ranked so low and the Jags.

But before the this spirals into a tit for that, I'll tap out and leave you be to whatever it point you wanted to make.

Quote from: Philosophers on May 11, 2024, 09:25:16 AMWhy was it dumb?  Betting on himself, right?  What's the harm?

No issue with that. Dumb to publicise it and make it available to comment.

Seems like the much maligned Herbert has as many excuses as DJ. I wonder what the like for like comparison looks like.

Quote from: kartanoman on May 10, 2024, 03:43:31 PMBelief from Lavs was a catalyst, no question about it. But also challenging him to play right wing, from time to time, unleashed additional potential and, with that, grew self-confidence that was supported by a strong work ethic which he always had, but we didn't always see.

Things came together for Laffy, as well as a few Ranger players, but the commitment of each individual to sacrifice their "me" for the team's "we" may have been the biggest leap forward yet for these guys. That's what a winner in a head coach, along with his assistants, can do when a team has the talent but now needs to give of themselves to each other for the bigger picture.

I believe that's the difference this year.

Peace!

As ever, I agree. Look at the excitement of having 72 back in morning skates. This is a group of men, as you say together and buying in.

We will see what comes of it, but I'll always be proud of this group - regardless of what happens.

Quote from: Giant Jim on May 10, 2024, 02:53:10 PMTeam leaders are focused. Panarin is on a mission, Trocheck is right there with him. The coaches (or other players) lit a fire to Lafrenière.

I don't think so. But he worked very hard on his skating and other stuff. Plus he had the belief of the coach - he's not had that before.

I also think the Rangers have been royally disrespected throughout the post season. The Atheltic, who I liked reading, gave them a 34% of winning the series - are you kidding me?

Sky Bet in England had them as 5th favs, priced at 8.50 in decimals (now down to 4.0). And now the favs, owing to the series score.

I'm sure this doesn't go unnoticed to this group (not the England market but the general disrespect).

It was dumb. Nothing more, nothing less. Let's hope he learns from it.

Love these post.

Yes, nothing is won yet but crumbs, what a position to be.

If they don't close it out tomorrow, which I think they will. They will back at MSG.

Canes threw everything at the Rangers and ultimately, they have no answer.

What a run this is turning into. They are special, very, very special.

LGR!

9 to go.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on May 09, 2024, 04:59:09 PMI'm not really disagreeing, but just as an exercise, and bearing in mind that incoming rookies are clearly a speculative projection in this, which QBs in this list have proven to be decisively worse besides Bryce Young?
Perhaps nobody. But i wouldn't take take Young over Jones.

Perhaps I'm wrong. But he shouldn't be last.

I'm no Jones apologist but dead last is laughable.

I won't even give them a click.
