Quote from: kingm56 on December 15, 2022, 12:50:45 PMIf CFO/CEO of a 4+ billon dollar company doesn't have a projected strategy for the next year mapped out, where in big trouble.

Well sure they have a strategy but as to them having already finalized who is the player that they will target to be their starting QB in 2023, I don't believe that has been determined yet.

Quote from: AZGiantFan on December 15, 2022, 12:25:48 PMI didn't say they have decided whether or not to keep him, I said they have finalized their strategy for dealing with the QB position.  There are more factors than deal or no deal.  Who's available at what price, who might they like in the draft, how much do they want their own guy, what is their top number if they make DJ an offer.

I'm not even sure if they've finalized that part of it yet.  Think though to your point they are leaning in a certain direction but having not gone through the combine, pro days, etc. I don't believe they've finalized things.

Quote from: AZGiantFan on December 15, 2022, 11:18:54 AMYes it is a big game.  But I have a feeling that the brain trust has already set their strategy for the QB position for next year.

I am not sure if they have but it's definitely clear having not worked out an extension yet that they haven't fully made the decision to keep him.

Quote from: AZGiantFan on December 14, 2022, 08:53:26 PMI also wouldn't be surprised if some team does that.  And I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes a top 5-10 QB with that team.

I would be stunned if he ever became a Top 10 QB over the course of a Full 17 game season.

Quote from: AZGiantFan on December 14, 2022, 08:00:31 PMI think the QBR  rankings buttress my point that Jones has clawed his way to being a middle rank QB despite being in a lousy situation with very little quality on the offense.

My inference, that some team or teams that have more quality on their offense but no established QB will look at that and think about what he could be in their higher quality offense, may be less certain. But I think one or more teams will be willing to sign him for more than some of the perpetually biased think.  Which will end the pro/con war that some have engaged in, here.

I wouldn't be surprised if some team offered Jones a contract that paid him $25+ million AAV.  I just hope the Giants aren't the ones who do it.

Quote from: Slugsy-Narrows on November 29, 2022, 06:17:59 PMBecause there are no new laws or old laws that will limit or stop gun violence.  The bad guys will always find a way to get a gun or a device to cause harm!

All new laws do is make legal gun owners criminals.

If someone wants to do harm they will.

The root of the problem isn't the gun, it's the individual.

I disagree.  I think we should be doing everything possible to address mass shootings what causes them and how they are able to be carried out.

NY has one of the highest vaccination rate in the country.  And despite having the most cases daily since the start of the pandemic hospitalizations are almost 5,000 patients less than they were in January.  That

Not going to get into a debate over the law that was passed in Georgia or the topic in general.  But I agree with MLB making this move to avoid the ASG being taken over by the debate for those 3-4 days in July.  Rather than protests outside the stadium, players opting out and discussion about the issue on the broadcast it will be strictly about baseball.  As with the whole National Anthem debate any time these issues pop up these Pro Sports leagues have to do all they can to eliminate the distraction one way or another.

There were a lot of fans after the game acting like they were morally superior and the Giants' victory vindicated their views and beliefs.

I am not sure why anyone wanting Daniel Jones being terrorized by the Skin's Chase Young twice a year is morally superior to those that wanted Chase Young terrorizing QBs on behalf of the Giants.

Look, there are two views fans take.  Some take the long term view (and prefer defeats in meaningless games to gain better draft picks) and others prefer the short term thrill that comes with winning meaningless games.   Neither side is right and neither side is wrong.  It's like chocolate VS vanilla, there is no right and wrong and liking one flavor or the other doesn't make one morally superior or a better person.

While I agree with the overall premise that it

Jerry Reese reminds me a lot of Omar Minaya, great talent evaluator poor administrator.  To be a good GM you need to be both.  The Giants drafts under Reese from 2004-2007 built the foundation for two championships.  Since Marc Ross took over in 2008 the Giants drafts have been awful.  As GM Reese is responsible for the performance of his staff.

The Reese apologists will point to OBJ and to a lesser extent JPP.  The reality is two players don't make up for as many poor drafts as the Giants have had since 2008.  He hasn't exactly done well in free agency either.

In a perfect world I'd love to put Reese back in his old position and bring in a new GM.  But that's not going to happen.  The realistic move would be to bring in a new GM, fire Ross and rebuild the scouting department.
