For those who would like to discuss the game without turning it into their own personal bashing thread.
Get over yourself, and talk about the Giants. If something bad is happening - people are allowed to express their opinions.
2 monster hits from the secondary (Butler/Phillips 1 a penalty) great to see.
Gilbride calling the plays: Not good to see.
another disappointing finish...
we need some sixes here boys
D looks good but they need more help
Hoping all these BJ carries in the first half lead to some AB long ones in second
I don't know if this is bashing, but underneath passes inside the 15 that are going nowhere even if completed just kill me.
Tough, mean football. Can't believe Jacobs couldn't punch it in yet kept the Steelers offense in poor field position most of the qtr.
Since the goalline stand it appears the Giants defense has turned it up. Should be a great 2nd half.
They have the lead at the half which is good although it's disappointing that they couldn't punch it in with Jacobs. Eli is getting protection and playing well although he's having a hard time finding guys open inside the redzone. But the Steelers are very good at dropping guys into coverage in a short field. I'm just glad that TP didn't make that pick.
I like the hard hitting by the GMen; that call against Phillips was crap.
The Giants have controlled TOP which may slow down the Steeler D and open a big play or two, later. In any case, after the inauspicious start, it hasn't been such a bad first half.
Cheers!
!
That's not necessarily where Eli's first read was, Slick. He has to make quick decisions and get the ball out. We never really know the details and options of play calls. We're just guessing, and then second-guessing about outcomes we don't like.
Cheers!
Please stop sending out Hedgecock out on patterns, he cant catch and 2 yards is pointless. Let him pass prtoect and give Eli more time.
4 penalties for 55 yards. Killing the Giants.
At least Butler can get everyone aligned up for the play, except himself.
Look at that playcalling. Play-action, and throw a deep ball. Sure beats running on 1st down everytime.
We are getting outcoached this game.
that Boss penalty was BS
Burress with a drop. Atta boy!!
Then there's the typical run after a first down incompletion - even better a sweep to our slowest RB.
Gilbride blows.
Coughlin will get fined after this game. These refs are downright openly cheating now. How they dont get the hold on Smith there is ridiculous.
Beautiful pass play, picturesqe. Big series here, another td it's over.
Can Ross cover anyone?
Run on 1st. 1 yard design pass, and get killed on 3rd.
DO you think Lebeau is scared of Gilbride?
Gilbride is CLUELESS!!!!
It has nothing to do with Gilbride. They simply can't run the ball against the Steelers defense. That's obvious. Without a running game, they are hurrying Eli who has trouble going through his progressions and finding an open receiver. The Giants haven't been able to execute against the No 1 D in the NFL, no matter what play is called.
as tough as it's been the game is still there to take....
Ryan Clark just hit a defenseless Steve Smith head to head and there was no flag thrown. I usually don't get into claiming that the ref's stink but if you are going to call it one way than you have to call it the other.
Gilbride calls the formations and the majority of the plays. Running on 1st down has been ineffectrive and yet he continues to do it. THATS GILBRIDES FAULT. Plus why does he always bring 3 TEs in the Goaline. Birng receviers in and spread the defense out, makes for mroe room to run.
And as I am writing.... Smith drops a pass that would have given us the ball inside the 5. Our 6th drop by the way today.
Where are our playmakers?
BOSSMAN!!!
Notice the helmet to helmet hit on Steve Smith? When is it a penalty and when isn't it?
Why don't they throw to Boss more? He could be a pretty decent threat in this offense but we don't seem to ever look his way.

Well it may be because he is not as open as we want to believe.
You bring in 2 TEs - YOU BRING THE WHOLE DEFENSE UP TO THE LINE AS WELL!!!!!!!!!!!

It is hard to be open when they keep you in to block most of the time.
gilbride's playcalling sucks. '
DONT BRING MATTHEWS IN THE GAME!!!
There's the uusal fade in the end zone. FIRE GILBRIDE NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1st down: sweep to wherever Matthews is: Lose 2 yards.
2nd down: Fade to Burress
3rd down: All receivers are short of the endzone.
THAT'S ON THE OFFESNIVE COORDINATOR. HE DOES THE SAME THING EVERYTIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
crap...this has been an exercise in frustration
Gilbride didn't make that lousy throw or the one to Boss either. You seem determined to be the resident troll. Let's see how long that's tolerated.
Who called the sweep?
Who called the fade?
THEY HAVENT WORKED ALL YEAR, AND HE IS STILL CALLING THEM!!
lets see how this plays out...D is solid
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chwq up the clock and go home with a victory.
lets see if their D worn down at all...
it's there boys...take it
There's the usual conservative play-calling on 1st down.
don't be so negative dude...this is an interesting game
FINALLY!!!
That's the call we needed all game. Gilbride, way to redeem yourself. GREAT CALL!
now lets get after Ben...
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
liking it.....liking it a lot!!!!!!!!
I'd throw it here. 2:00 coming up. Make sure it's deep though.
well we need the D one more time
With 1:48 to go and a chance to drive the field and tie the game against the defending Super Bowl champs and there are a couple thousand empty seats in the lower part of the stands. It's embarrassing.
Great Job Spags and the defense. Love the agressive defense at the end of the game!!!!
statement win guys...
almost gets the Browns taste out of my mouth...almost
That was TC being a bit too conservative for my taste. Still, the D ate R'bergers for dinner. A GREAT WIN.
Cheers!
Yes, a great statement win in an old fashion Steeler vs. Giants slugfest.
Now we are as ready as we can be for the rest of the schedule.
Great game and great effort.
a quick side note: 3 cheers for Mike Singletary on sending Vernon Davis to lockerroom =D> Keep it up Plax, would love it if Coughlin does the same if Plax doesn't get his ship together.
A great win regardless. Yeah, the O was not efficient but the D was terrific. Sometimes that happens but beating a Steeler team with a quality D on the road is huge. I'm am THRILLED! They were the better team and once again Eli gets it done late. 6-1! Where's Whiney Blue?
Painter--I totally agree--A GREAT WIN!!! On the road at Pitt--a knock down drag em out affair--there has to be a lot of aches & bruises after that one--I don't think anyone should take this win lightly--they hung in there and gutted it out
Fladan
The Defense was real, real good. I think especially the CB's because Ben didn't have anybody to throw to. The play calling, who's rushing and who's dropping back was great. That's inspired football. I hope we rise to the occasion next week against the Cowgirls.
So, has anyone figured out what akrd's problem is? Seriously- why the relentless bashing?
Also a big shout out for the OL today--No sacks of ELI--weren't the Steelers leading the league?

I am bi-polar. Got a problem with that? If you need to call out posters after a win, you might as well be too.
Seriously, I could care less what you think of my opinion. But if you need to call me out how I express myself on a player or play-calling - you have deeper issues than I do. If you don't like what I have to say..... IGNORE ME!!!!
How hard is that to do?

If you are bipolar- seriously, take your meds. I'm not saying that in any negative way, I have a brother-in-law that is bipolar and....meds are good.
Whether you are or are not, you might need to chill out a bit during games. Relax. Turn the computer off. It's just a game.
I enjoy every game. I have season tickets. Once the game is over, I get ready for next week. I dont lose sleep when they win/lose.
However, I am allowed to express my opinions if I dont like something or how someone is playing. I dont insult anyone here, therefore I am not breaking any rules.
That does qualify as a great win, doesn't it, fladan? It got me thinking back to the start of last season when they gave up 80 points in starting 0-2. Who knew that in beating a tough 5-1, Numero Uno defense, Steelers team, they would have won 20 of the next 25, the Super Bowl, and now 10 of their last 11? How sweet it is. But sweeter still when they barbeque the Cows, next week.
Cheers!
