BBH Baseball Board / Re: Rays, Red Sox, & Yankees
September 16, 2011, 01:16:46 PM
As a Sox fan, I am very worried about this stretch drive.  The starting pitching staff is in shambles.  Like our beloved Giants, the injuries have piled up.  They are starting guys who I don't have a clue about.  The Yanks have better pitching than the Sox right now and the Rays may have the best starting staff of all 3 teams.  Yanks and Sox have a bit more than the Rays on offense and the Sox need to show that more than the other 2.  Far a long time everyone had the Yanks and Sox are locked into the playoffs but thanks to the Sox losing 7 of the last 8, we now have a playoff race.

Go Sox!!!

I will also tip my cap to both of those gentleman.  Webster,  being a Red Sox fan living in Maine, it is a true statement that Wake is a class act.  He has been a great team player for many many years.  Certainly not a HOFer but he was alway ready to pitch in whatever role the team needed him to be.

Here is one for y'all.

Who was the only batter who ever struck out against a 59-year old pitcher, in a major league game?

The late 60s and early 70s are almost a blank for me when it comes to sports.  In the USAF, stationed in Germany, so didn't get much for sports news. And maybe all that good beer and other good things had something to do with it too.  =)) =))   Without looking up the answers,  I could not even tell you if thay had a worlds series in 68. :-??

I don't know anything about glaucoma but a gent named Mike Ferraro, from Kingston NY played for the Yanks and Pilots.

But I now see a post by the Big Hitter that confirms my thinking.  =D> =D> =D>

Good start for your Yanks Sam.  I will be watching my beloved Sox open tomorrow.  Should be a tough race in the AL east again this year.

BBH Archive / Re: The BBH Weekend Wrap Up
August 08, 2010, 05:03:14 PM
We just arrived back home after a most wonderful weekend.  I said before that the reason I was going to drive 311 miles was to meet up with the folks of this board.  If I saw a little football than that was just a bonus.

I will say that I had it dead on!!!!   I saw a little football, but the BBQ was the main course.  It was a pleasure to meet each and every one of you.  It surpassed my best expectations.  We had a great time. Thanks to you all!!!   =D>

I also agree with Vette.  Lets hope the Giants see what a great place they have to hold training camp.
