I just watched last night's game again without the anxiety. Florida playa a very similar game to Carolina with added offense. Pressure all over the ice, scrambly, puck bouncing, some havoc. Suits this time of year because ice surfaces are going to be a little soft, and chippy. Especially in South Florida where besides the rink surface all other ice are in drink glasses. Lonborg hit Vesey in the head with a slight glance off Vesey's shoulder which makes the hit a non-penalty. In the game within the game I'd like to see Barkov acquire a nagging physical annoyance that throws his game off just a bit. A cute slash to the ankle/foot, swollen hand or face, and at some point an elbow to Lonborg that has him adjusting his jaw. If you hadn't noticed they're targeting Trocheck. As Henrik said on the pre, and post shoot high on Bobrovsky. The OT winner was a high shot. The Rangers improved from Game 1 to Game 2. Keep it going.

Quote from: uconnjack8 on May 23, 2024, 01:24:36 PMFlightline is a son of Tapit.  Tapit is a son of Pulpit who is a son of AP Indy.  AP Indy sire was Seattle Slew and and Dam Sire was Secretariat.  Tapit has produced a number of successful offspring.

Pretty good genetics to have Seattle Slew as your dad and Secretariat as the grandfather on your mother's side.

AP Indy was quite the horse. Santa Anita Derby, Peter Pan, Belmont Stakes, Breeders Cup Classic winner. 1992 Horse of the Year. Started life as a ridgeling(undescended testicle). Scratched morning of Kentuckey Derby due to sore foot. Neil Drysdale did a tremendous job getting him ready for Peter Pan/Belmont combo. Had a terrible Jockey Club Gold Cup, came back to win the Breeders.

"I'm surprised with some of the takes on here.  I thought the Rangers last night were atrocious.  No pressure, no physicality.  Florida hit every Ranger, every time they could.  Other than Cuylle a few times, I remember very few Ranger hits.  You can't dump it in the offensive zone and expect to retrieve the puck without playing the body hard.  And their passing to get out of the defensive zone was poor."

I agree with you. See my previous post. Did anyone hit Tzachuk after his open ice hit on Trocheck? The proper reply should have been a take him out of the series literally action to heck with the penalty or suspension. At this point in the playoffs it's kill or be killed(figuratively). Mike Tyson when he was champ would say "everyone has a plan until they get hit".

Florida believes they are a team of destiny. In hockey in order to defeat that the opponent has to play the game with the attitude that is just short of "we will kill you to win". I'm being dramatic to make a point. It's about will, and imposing it. I've said it before Mother Teresa before and after the game, Atilla the Hun during the game. What the Rangers need is an infusion of their die hard longtime fans' pissed off angst of one Cup in 83 years. A born, and raised New Yorker middle finger. Hockey is a beautiful, talent laden sport that has a violent element that's allowed, written into it's structure, and in its rulebook. Use that element to your advantage. To Florida, you want to block shots, well here it comes. Bing. Look at that stupid commercial with Stamkos, Hedman, and their young kids. What's the selling point? Stamkos' 3 year old slamming someone into the boards, and then Stamkos telling Hedman well I guess your infant isn't up to it, might as well save for college. HELLO! It won't happen because the real pursuit is $$$$$$$$. To this fan(and many others), and the late Great Vince Lombardi "Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing". It's not entertainment, for that I'll watch Edmonton vs Dallas. I never liked it, but I kinda understand why Billy Smith never shaked hands after a series. Ok, rant is over. It's one game. The Rangers know they haveto up their game. If they can't/don't kudos to Florida.

He benches 500, what does he squat? That low center of gravity must generate a lot of power.

I was at the Giant game. Sat at about the 25 yard line lower level behind the Giants' bench.

Florida will try to do the same thing to Panarin/Fox that they did to Marchand. Bennet got away with it. Maurice is a very good coach who desperately wants his name on the chalice. The Rangers raised the level of their game in the 3rd, they will need to keep their game on the incline. I noticed during the Cane series Fox was not coming down the boards like usual until that third period. Maybe he's getting closer to healed. There will be a ton of hitting this series. I hope the refs are legitimate in their calls, and no cheapies. Here's where Goodrow's Cup experience comes in handy. Florida is a really really good team. It will be interesting to see how many Ranger fans travel to Sunrise for the game and to see their grandparents.

Quote from: Messiah717 on May 16, 2024, 08:42:27 PMWhat a disgusting collapse this is going to be.  While there's no excuse when you're up 3-0 in a series a lot of this will rest on Drury's shoulders.  Added absolutely nothing at the deadline to help the Rangers in the playoffs.  Two guys who lack offense and are complete non factors.

I don't blame Drury. Teams were asking for the Ranger's best prospects and/or their #1 which Dolan did not want to give up since the draft is being held at the Sphere, his property.

Carolina wants it more. The Rangers are showing a deficiency I thought they had before the season started, the need for more speed. You all know how I feel about certain intangibles, the need to play a mean game.  :cuss:  :cuss:  :cuss:  :banghead:

"Tonight, do the Panthers put the Bruins away? doesn't look good for Beantown."

because the Panthers/Brennet stabbed the Bruins in the heart when he punched him. They went to the Finals last year, know what it takes, and taste blood.

I didn't watch the game, had an event to go to. Lucky for me, saved my voice from yelling at the tv.The extra day will help them settle down. Anyway I envisioned them winning this series in their white jerseys. From what I hear they again let Carolina skate through center ice. No, no, no, no, no. OPEN ICE BODY CHECKS. These are the playoffs. One can get away with a lot of stuff. See Sam Bennet on Marchand. What this team is missing is a Jamie Benn, or JT Miller(never wanted to see him traded). That guy who will step up and lay the wood into a key opponent. Remember what Messier did to Stevens in Game 2 in 94'. They should bang shots off the Canes like in an arcade game. Give no quarter, Attila the Hun during the game, and right after Mother Theresa while shaking hands. The only goal is to get one's name inscribed on the Cup. There is not one name on the chalice that indicates whether one is a Lady Bing type, or Hanson Bros. type. Not one. As far as winning a Cup, I'm Machiavellian.
