Big Blue Huddle / Giants Running game
April 28, 2024, 09:17:33 PM
How are you feeling about the running back group ?

While obviously no Barkley is a downgrade I think our group itself can be decent

1. Singleterry I think can be decent as the main back but he shouldn't carry the load as much as Barkley did

2. Grey we drafted him last year ... now give him a bigger role ... right now is the time to roll the dice and see what we actually have

3. Tracy is the rookie who has been a wr more than rb .... Maybe he can be used as a backfield receiving threat since Jones does seem to dump it off a lot

I think we need to stop playing around and just see what we got.... We already know what we have in brightwell and Corbin ..... just give the youngins the playing time

Quote from: GloryDays on April 27, 2024, 01:50:05 PMI think this team just doesn't get it. The offense lives and dies through their line.
Just throwing bodies at it doesn't work. Other teams' leftovers is not the way to have a dominant O line.
Just look at the Steelers. Their O line was decent, check their draft!
Evan Neal is a bust, who is the RT we can rely on to stop the pressure on DJ from that edge? Are they really relying on Eluemunor or Cajuste?
Who is behind Schmitz? Even if he improves, who's backing him up, Morrissey?
This to me is weird.. I hope I am wrong, but I doubt it. They are ignoring to address the line effectively, like they did last year too.

We have a center going into year 2 and made 2 offseason signings that both will probably be day 1 starters and a new o-line coach

Neal is the obvious question mark

We drafted o line high the last 2 drafts and made offseason signings this year

It's not that they are ignoring the o-line but you have to build the rest of team at some point

Quote from: Jclayton92 on April 28, 2024, 11:29:59 AMBetter to risk it and possibly end up with Josh Allen than trotting a broken qb out for year 6, who if he gets injured at all in 2024 gets his salary guaranteed for 2025.

Better to roll with what you have for another year then to give up future high draft picks then draft a qb who is at the same level if not maybe worse than what you already have

Delaying the change for a year and bettering the team > drafting a failed qb and now having no assets the next few years

Quote from: MightyGiants on April 27, 2024, 04:44:00 PMI am not asking for your favorite or most impactful (although you can factor that into your vote).  The question is which pick had the most value?

I went with Nubin simply because he's considered the best safety in the whole draft and we got him at 47

I can understand Theo ... but that is simply based off of potential it seems

I know he was hampered by pens state bland offense and I do think he can be a beast , but we don't know that for a fact without evidence

That being said I would not be surprised if Theos impact is on the level of Nabers when it comes to this teams success

So I'm nubin now ... but I don't doubt Theo could be the bigger value pick in a few years

You just never know... I know this is a "strong" qb class .... But man if it fails you always gave up too much

Happy we got nabers .... Build the team not give away all assets

And this is nothing in comparison to what we and other teams were possibly trying to give up

Quote from: Jolly Blue Giant on April 27, 2024, 04:29:07 PMFrom the Eagles' "Cheat Sheet"

"Darius Muasau (UCLA) – A four-year college starter, first at Hawaii and then at UCLA, Muasau has played more defensive snaps than any linebacker drafted in the last decade, and the production has followed him despite that high amount of reps. An outstanding blitzer who stacked up sack production, Muasau was a disruptive force downhill for the Bruins and has been a forceful presence on special teams as well throughout his career. It's easy to see the role he can carve out for himself in the league."

Special Teams - I'm beginning to see a pattern

He kind of reminds me of Khaseem Greene when drafted out of Rutgers

He was a beast at RU and broke all kind of records ... but lasted until the 4th round because he was considered undersized in NFL standards

Didnt really have a great NFL career

But the league is smaller and faster now... maybe we can get something out of this kid

Seems like a good pick

For the people who really want a RB .. at this point I ask why ?? Not saying I'm against I would not mind it

But what is another late mid round RB going to do for us ? We drafted one last year ... let him get actual playing time and see what he can do

Again I am not against it .. but it doesn't seem like a need to me

I like Slayton and hope he stays ...but if he truly wants out I hope we get SOMETHING for him ....

But those SLayton is just OKAY I agree to an extent... SLayton has always been a #3 ...#2 at best

Thing is whether he has played #2 or forced to be #1 he has still been decent.... a #2 or #3 can only really be truly a successful when he actually has a #1 on the other side ...we have never had that  since OBJ ... When Slayton is the WR who gets the most attention then you obviously have a problem

Hopefully NAbers is the real deal.... and you will see Slayton get his open opportunities....

All that being said I hope the story ends with Hyatt being the #2 and Wandale the Slot

Quote from: GloryDays on April 26, 2024, 07:56:52 PMChargers stole McConkey in the second... What will you say if he turns out to be a better pro than Nabers picked 30 picks earlier?

Nothing ... what is there to say ?

Nabers will never have lasted to the second and Mcconkley wasn't getting picked by anyone that early

It would just be a good pick by the Chargers

Quote from: Rosehill Jimmy on April 26, 2024, 07:54:46 PMI wonder if the NFL is happy about these "insiders" jumping their TV productions

It is kind of disrespectful

Wanted Fiske or a DT .... Wouldn't mind Melton from Rutgers to play corner at this point

I hate the eagles man ... scummiest organization out there
