Here are the rankings:

- 2019 ranked 17th -
- 2020 ranked 31st -
- 2021 ranked 30th -
- 2022 ranked 18th -
- 2023 ranked 30th -

The two years the Giants had a decent offensive line was in 2019 and 2022.

In both of those years Daniel Jones had his best seasons, including making the playoffs and winning a game in 2022.

The three years the Giants had an awful offensive line were in 2020, 2021, and 2023, ranked 31st, 30th, and 30th.

In those three years Daniel Jones had his worst years as a player, and the teams record was 6-10, 4-13, and 6-11.

My questions to everyone here is:

A) What can we learn from this data?

And

B) How important is the offensive line to Daniel Jones' success, and the team's ability to win as a whole?

No right or wrong answer here as I am just curious everyone's opinion?

This may be of some interest to those who value PFF grades, but they had the Giants offensive line ranked 30th worst in the NFL for 2023.

Only the Titans and Jets had a worse offensive line, link down below for those who may be interested.

I know many here want QB prospects Williams, Mcdaniels and Maye, and I understand, and I get it, as it would be nice get one of them, but realistically the Giants have little to no chance at any of them.

After watching the first 6 games, the O-line was being manhandled and DJ had no time and no shot. If you want to see a good example of this, go and rewatch the Seahawks game, he literally had to play perfect, ball coming out in 2 seconds or less, and even then, it would have been extremely difficult to win. This was noted by the announcers, Aikman and Buck.

The first five out of six opponents were:

A) Cowboys - #5 defense
B) 49ers - #3 defense
C) Seahawks
D) Dolphins
E) Bills - #4 defense (Tyrod started)

The team was 1-5 at this point, as they faced a buzzsaw the first 6 games of the season. DJ throws a good ball, has a strong arm, and is accurate enough to win with.

And for those saying Tyrod was better, he put up a whopping 9 points against the Bills defense, and 14 points against the terrible 4-13 Commanders the following week, so he isn't the long-term answer either.

I also do not think panicking and picking a new QB at 6 just because you need one is the right answer either, that just makes things worse, especially if you get it wrong.

So here is my recommendation, feel free to agree or disagree with this, but this is what I would do.

With the first 3 picks use them on a #1 WR and beef up the O line with the other two picks.

Since DJ is already under contract for the 2024 season, let him play it out and see what he can do when you give him more time, so he can throw some deeper passes. You may actually be surprised that the DJ of 2022 comes back, and him and the team performs well next season, but let's just see.

If they are terrible again, then at that point you can unload the DJ contract, and then look at new QB's in the following seasons 2025-2026 without having to give away the farm for one of them.

Feel free to agree or disagree, but that is what I would do, curious your thoughts?

This is not a knock-on Brock Purdy, but this is what I saw from him last night that doesn't show up in the stat sheet.

1st half

A) He throws a pass to his right mid-range, and was about to be intercepted by CB Adoree Jackson, but his TE knocked the ball away, bailing him out.

B) He throws a deep shot to the left sideline TD area, CB Deonte Banks has perfect coverage, and is about to intercept him for a second time, but the ball goes right through his hands.

C) He throws another ball behind Jennings, but his receiver actually catches it.

D) He throws another ball that is deflected in the air by Davidson at the line of scrimmage, but no Giants player is in the area to intercept it.

E) He throws a ball to Deebo, it hits him in his hands but the ball pops straight up in the air, and instead of being intercepted it falls right into Ronnie Bells hands for a completion.

F) He throws another deep ball to the end zone, but for some reason Darnay Holmes pulls up as it could have been intercepted for the 4th time that night.

He was 25/37 for 310 Yards 2 TD 0 Int 111.3 RTG

But honestly, he easily could have had 2-3 interceptions if it wasn't for the breaks he caught.

They also accumulated over 201 yards after the catch, which did show up on the stat sheet.

Paradoxically when Daniel Jones throws the ball to Waller, it hits him right in the hands but when he pops the ball up in the air, there were seven 49ers around to intercept it.

As Ed has already wisely brought out, the Giants didn't even give their running game a chance to nullify the pass rush and to keep the defense honest.

Defensively there is no question the 49ers are superior, as the Giants D has got to be one of the worst in the league right now, as they struggle just to stop the run.

My point in all of this, is that there are way more problems for the Giants then just putting all of the blame on DJ.

Curious your thoughts?
