Chalk Talk / BBH Giants-Saints Podcast Game Review
September 19, 2016, 09:56:18 PM
Listen in on Frank (ShoelessJoe), Rich (MightyGiants) and Ed Vette as we discuss the game and try to answer some of the questions about this Giants Team and the Coaching Staff as it establishes it's identity in this young season. Brian (BigHitter) was unavailable for this episode but thanks to Frank and Rich who did a great job commenting on some tough questions. Every week we will invite a new guest. Let me know if you have any interest in being on the show.

A shout out to the BleedBlueShow and Emory Hunt of FootballGamePlan and in the last segment Rich talked about the excellent Draft Material that UkGiantsFan (Ceri) provides for the forum.

I'm happy to announce our first podcast of the Big Blue Huddle. Rich and Brian and I put it together and it's a review of the Cowboys game and a preview of the home opener against the Saints. I also read Matt's game preview of the Saints game on the show because I thought it was very well done. We want you feedback. It's about 45 minutes long.

For future podcasts, I would like to invite one or two member call ins. We hope you enjoy it.

BBH Archive / NFT: 2016 Triple Crown- Pick 3
May 05, 2016, 08:21:06 AM
Ok, BBH Members. Just a friendly competition. Pick the order of the Top three horses, Win, Place and Show. Suggestion is to pick them the day of the race before 12 PM EST. 12 PM EST the day of the Race is the Cutoff for all entries.  If your horse is scratched after 12 pm you will not lose any points for that pick. Only the first 20 Entries Qualify for each Race in the order they are posted.

50 points for the winner, 30 points for the Place and 20 for the show. However, if you lose the Place Horse you lose 30 points. If you lose the Show, you lose 20 points. Win, Place and Show can not be the same horse. You only get position credit points. Meaning, you can't pick the same horse to win, place and show and you won't get double credit on a place or show hit. Example, if you picked a horse to Place and the horse won the race, you get credit for the Place pick only, not both.

Win: You bet on a horse to finish first.

Place: Your horse must finish first or second.

Show: Your horse must finish first, second or third.

You must pick three horses to be eligible. Points carry over to the following Race.

Then we will do the same for the Preakness and the Belmont Stakes. The point system will be the same but in order to qualify for the next race you must have at least a Show Winner in the previous Race. As you can see some strategy is involved here as to when you will post your entries because if you're late you may not qualify and whether you choose to continue on the second or third race.

We will declare a winner of each Contest and a winner for the combined Triple Race Competition.

https://www.kentuckyderby.com/horses

Here is an example:

Terrymeisner    Derby- Win and Show= 70 minus 30 place loss= 40 points
Terrymeisner    Preakness- Place and Show= 50 points
Terrymeisner    Belmont- Win= 50 minus 50= 0
Terrymeisner    Total Points= 90 points

Dasher             Derby- Place and Show= 50 points
Dasher             Preakness- Show= 20 minus 30= -10
Dasher             Belmont- Place= 30 minus 20= 10
Dasher             Total Points= 50 points

Vette                Derby- Win, Place and Show= 100 Points
Vette                Preakness- no entry= 0 points
Vette                Belmont- Disqualified
Vette                Total Points= 100

ELCHALJE         Derby- Place and show= 50 points
ELCHALJE         Preakness- Place= 30 minus 20= 10
ELCHALJE         Belmont- Place and Show= 50 points
ELCHALJE         Total Points- 110

MightyGiants     Derby- Win 50 (Only picked one horse) Disqualified

In the Case of a tie of total points, the Member with the most first place winners is the tie breaker, the second tie breaker is the Member with the most combined Win, Place and Show Hits.

The talent available
There is a clear top 3 talent available this year, another in my top 10 overall (who I like at LT but not at RT), on in my top 15, two in the top 31, one top 40 and then a handful between my top 75 and top 100. This year in particular I think teams will have totally different grades on everyone but the top guy based on whether their needs are at LT or RT and what scheme they run Last year I argued on Twitter with NFL.com

BBH Archive / Pick your New Head Coach
January 04, 2016, 07:13:38 PM
Name your pick of any available candidates and why you believe in this candidate. An existing HC is acceptable if it makes sense that he would become available. One post per Member and no debate. Choose your man.

The first 3 polls voted to retain each Coordinator and the HC on their own merit. Now vote for the final changes you feel need to happen for this organization.

After two polls gauging the barometer of sentiment toward the OC and DC, it looks like both have majority support. If that's the case, at this point in the season what support if any is there for Tom Coughlin?

BBH Archive / NFT: Inviting Old Friends to Come Back
December 16, 2015, 04:09:35 PM
We have been sending an E-mail Newsletter to our Member base to reach out to some of the folks that haven't frequented the board in some time or have never posted and to feature Threads and Topics and extend Holiday Wishes.

Hopefully we can get some fresh insight and contribution to enhance our site and to replace some of the membership that we have lost through attrition for various reasons.

We ask that you all recognize when a new member posts or when someone returns after a long hiatus and accept them with patience and understanding as you would a long lost friend. Keep in mind a lot of the topics of conversation that have been hashed over the past months are completely new to them.

Chalk Talk / Under Further Review!
December 08, 2015, 09:32:08 PM
We are excited to announce that BayAreaGiant has agreed to post a weekly article that discusses the Officiating of Games in the National Football league. As you know he has extensive experience in this area at the Division I level and has put this experience to the study of the NFL Rule Book. After consulting with our Moderator Emeritus Group we decided to create a thread where BayAreaGiant can discuss the rules, game calls over a weekend that became controversial and to answer questions from our members. If you have a question that you would like BayAreaGiant to give his interpretation, send him a Personal Message. This will be a locked thread and not a discussion thread. He asked that I submit his first Blog that he prepared as we introduce this weekly feature. We hope you enjoy it!

We don't engage in discussions about Politics, Religion or Race issues however if you would like to post an occasional Current Event Topic start the Topic Title with NFT (Not Football Topic). This way it does not get broadcast out to our Social Media Sites such as Twitter or Facebook. At some point the thread may be moved to our Front Porch Board for further and more in depth conversation and leave more space on the front page to the football forum for what we are all here for, NY Giants Football.

We understand that this community is not for everyone. It's very unique and the manner in which it's moderated and content that is allowed is not up for discussion. We do things here a certain way and it's worked well for us since 2007. We have a group of volunteers that moderate the site and we have a seasoned group of Moderator Emeritus Members and Core Members who care very deeply about our community. Members often meet for Home Games, Away Games and for Get Togethers. Any Member with Hall Of Fame Status is welcome to to get involved.
