Big Blue Huddle / Re: If we draft Rome.Odunze

If we draft Maye he can miss him by the side of a barn. If we draft JJ, he can bird dog him and get picked. Draft Williams and if Odunze drops a pass, and loses a game, he will climb into the stands and cry in his mommy's arms. Draft Daniels and he will throw the ball, then run past him and make the catch. Penix will pull a hammy and Nix will check down.

Maybe it's better to stay with the devil we know. No guarantees in life as a Giants fan.

Quote from: MightyGiants on April 14, 2024, 11:38:24 AMObjectively your number choice is no better supported. How are they pushing a narrative but you are not?  I am not seeing a fair justification for your strong deragotory accusation.
I'm not pushing a narrative Rich, I'm saying the entire purpose of their post was BS. If you don't like what I have to say about it, that's fine but don't attack my opinion. I have every right to have it without people like you jumping down my throat. Strong derogatory accusation indeed. I don't care that you posted it. I'm sure you're running out of things to talk about.

Quote from: MightyGiants on April 14, 2024, 11:19:52 AMEd,

How exactly do you know this stat is "deliberately" misleading?  Do you know the employee on 33rd team that made the stat?  Can you explain why that employee was deliberately trying to mislead?   What exactly was the purpose of deception?

I don't know the motivation but when ten QB's have 29 or more TD's and the cut off is 30, it's a red flag to a narrative they are pushing. That narrative is that the league is either void of good QB talent or as you are pushing that they lack a supporting cast of talent around them. It sure got you to bite.

That tweet was deliberately misleading. Almost a third of the league had a QB with 29 plus TD's and over 3900 yards passing.

If they trade down they might.

Quote from: Philosophers on April 14, 2024, 10:45:08 AMHere's a question.  If Giants do draft a QB at 6 does ownership give Dabs, Schoen, etc more than just next season to develop him otherwise we run into problem of mismatch between new head coach and previous regime's QB.
Yes

Quote from: Philosophers on April 14, 2024, 10:16:48 AMWhat I am saying is how I think the Giants feel, not how I feel.

I think he is damaged goods both physically and mentally.  Giants failed in protecting him last season so hard to tell what 2023 would have been had he played whole season and gotten sacked say 35 times.  His psyche is affected as he won't gamble on downfield throws.  Now Giants need a new QB.
I think he's broken.

I agree, if you have been following my posts on him. I also have cautious enthusiasm for JJ McCarthy but his book in only in the first chapter.

Quote from: Philosophers on April 14, 2024, 09:14:47 AMI think the Giants feel if they get better OL play especially in pass rush plus get a WR1 and add another RB or TE that a healthy DJ can be a top 12 or maybe top 10 QB and that they can win with that.  I also think they are less concerned than fans are about the injury history and conclude better protection insures against that.  This is the reason they go WR at 6 and maybe RB in round 2 or 3.  If DJ fails, Dabs will be gone and a new coach will then go get another QB in 2025 however the offense will now have a true X WR1, plus a good WanDale and Jalin and a young RB to build around a new rookie QB.
I think they can win games and he was a top twelve QB in 2022. In the right system perhaps he can repeat it. I have my doubts after last season.

Quote from: MightyGiants on April 14, 2024, 09:38:31 AMWhy would you try to scout a player from a highlight film?
I don't. It was a discussion we had based on observations from a podcast that you have supported multiple times. They gave a pretty fair evaluation btw.

Quote from: Philosophers on April 14, 2024, 09:08:02 AMWd - it's a multi read offense but if the primary read is open he goes to him.  You cant look at a highlight film of any QB because most throws will likely to first WR.

Why would most throws likely Go to the first WR in a highlight film?

Quote from: MightyGiants on April 14, 2024, 09:03:47 AMI believe I heard once that the NFL informally surveys teams to develop the list.  As for JJ (or any prospect showing up), that is for the benefit of the NFL and their over-the-top TV production.   Players attending the draft have zero impact on the team that drafts them (seeing a player forced to bro-hug Rodger Godell will not help a player on the field)
Hundreds of fans attend the event to support their team. Thousands watch. If you think it means nothing to them to see their first round pick with the team hat on getting called up on stage, and the excitement it generates, as well as the picture going up on the team website and all over twitter, then I just don't see it from your perspective.
