I dont really want to compare Herbert and Jones but I think Herbert has HOF potential and is just dealing with some of the bad luck Jones has for a lot of his career.

I think the biggest thing holding Herbert back is not the injuries to his entire team, but his HC. I think Staley is one of the worst coaches in the NFL.

Quote from: Jclayton92 on November 14, 2022, 11:38:18 AMHe's not better than Jackson, Brady, Rodgers, Garappolo, or Goff.

Top 10 Qbs last year were in the 4500 yd 30 Td 10 int range and Jones isn't coming close to that.

Garrapolo sucks. Most overrated player in the NFL.

Top 10 is a little steep. But he has certainly moved closer. If we are counting the QBs this year. (not in any order)

1. Mahomes
2. Allen
3. Hurts
4. Burrow
5. Jackson
6. Tua
7. Cousins
8. Rodgers
9. Brady
10. Herbert

Jones would be in the next group with the likes of Murray, Lawrence (hes going to be a monster soon), Prescott, and Stafford.

I just went back about 10 years to look at TOP.

The Giants finished 25th or lower in 9 of those years. No wonder why we have been so bad for so long... haha

Quote from: Slugsy-Narrows on November 14, 2022, 09:04:51 AM100% disagree

This kid didn't work under the last group!

Dabs talked about all the texts and time he spent TRYING to get through to Toney.

This isn't on Dabs!  The baby boy didn't want to be in NY and he isn't.

End of story!

Bye Felecia!

Over done out!

How do we know he didnt work hard? Our beat reporters arent exactly the best around. As fans as we dont know how hurt he was. Rumors are he was struggling with the play book. How do we know Daboll wasnt tough on him for that reason?

In his second game with another team, he put up nearly 100 yards and a TD. Thats contributing. The disconnect between Daboll and Toney was never looked into by our reporters.

I still think Daboll got this one wrong. These two were never on the same page. Not saying Toney is innocent by any means, but there seems to be more than meets the eye with what happened here.

I was talking about this with my father yesterday and first off I dont want to diminish what Wink has done. He has been incredible. Hope he never leaves. And I am not underestimating what Dexter Lawrence, Leonard Williams, and Adoree Jackson have been - cause I believe they have been awesome as well. But I have a different take on why the defense is finishing the job in a lot of these games...

The offense.

Some times we have seen in the past that the defense has given up big time drives or leads late in the game, and it was rarely was mentioned how gassed they were for always being on the field. Right now in the NFL, we are ranked 4th in the NFL in TOP, up over 4 minutes from last year. Now that may not seem like a ton of time, but it makes a huge difference to the players on defense. Just look at how many snaps Leo and Dexter are playing. Without the extra rest, they may not perform at a level good enough in order to finish the job in the 4th quarter.

So thats why Daboll and the offense deserve a lot of credit. Daboll knows we cannot be a quick strike offense due to the talent we lack at positions and the overall depth of the team. So running Barkley and Jones, getting first downs, and keep the offense on the field is actually helping the defense more than scoring a lot of points. It's not to say we cant improve on offense, because we obviously can. However, the game plan gives us the best strategy to win and keep the defense fresh. I have already admitted, I'd like to see more throwing early on in downs, but you cant argue with the results. The defense isnt blowing leads and they have dominated in the 4th quarter.

Just unreal coaching by all involved. Hopefully, it will keep up for the rest of the year.

I think we still need to throw it a little more on first down. I thought we were ultra conservative against Seattle. And the same yesterday.

I dont mean throw it 25-30 yards downfield, but on first down - the other team is expecting the run, might be able to get some more play action passing. But what do I know? We re winning :)

Big Blue Huddle / Re: DJ vs Mahomes

Mahomes was not off last night. His INT was a dropped ball. There were about 5-6 drops as well. He was the entire offense yesterday with no run game.

I am not sure Jones could have won that game last night. Mahomes was pretty special.

Just remember something when Schoen was hired.

Limited Resources
Number of holes

This was never going to be built in a year. He did a smart job by passing a wear QB class to build in other areas (can these rookies please stay healthy?!?!)

Look for him to continue building the team after the year is over, whether or not we make the playoffs.

I would put Jihad Ward in the surprise mix as good as well. I didnt think he would be much of a player and he has had some really good games this year.

Just noticing some reactions from various boards, my opinion may be unpopular...

But McKinney and Love are being overvalued by fans (especially talking about paying love an excess of over 10 million dollars in his next contract). McKinney hasnt taken that next step. Hes a good, solid player this year. But not a game changer. Much like Love. They dont create turnovers and I think they have combined for 1 sack and 1 INT (both by love I believe).

Again, good solid players - but I wouldnt call them great by any means this year.

I havent had a chance to go through and read the whole thread, but my take is Schoen knows this team is a few players away from being a legitimate contender and using draft picks and cap space on guys like Moore and Cooks has more negative paths than positive ones.

Again, Schoen's job was a TOTAL rebuild. The record is great and the players improving is a great sign as well. But let it not deter from what the ultimate goal is. I am sure Schoen will be looking at the draft and free agency to up grade the WR, IOL, LB, and CB situations.

Thank you all. The Giants being relevant and seemingly on the right path has been a good thing as well!
