The Front Porch / Re: 20 best instrumental songs

Interesting list. The inclusion of Sirius brought a smile to my face. As did One of These Days, (although that's not technically an instrumental). Did I miss seeing Dave Brubeck's Take Five? If Cliffs of Dove makes the list but not Take Five, well....pftftf.

Quote from: Jolly Blue Giant on June 21, 2022, 09:20:51 AMSame here...been using it for years. Clean and simple. Only downside is that about once every ten times it throws a string of letters onto the end of the url for an advertisement that you have to take the time to delete from the original string of letters. You don't have to delete it, but if you don't, there'll be a url underneath the picture you post that if clicked, takes you to an ad. I guess that's how they fund the site

Weird. I've been using it for years and have never seen ads.

You can use any web hosting site, but the reason I use PostImage is that you don't have to sign up or sign in to use it.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on June 16, 2022, 07:59:05 PMThanks. I actually have never been able to do this, period. Even on the old board.
I upload to a free image hosting site and then link to that. Pretty sure it doesn't matter what OS you're using. PM me if you need instructions. I got Len using it at one point, though I don't know if he still uses it.

Last night I watched the first episode of the latest season of Stranger Things. All I can say is "what the holy fuc#!?!?!!? This series sure took a radical turn. Plus, I have always enjoyed the choice of songs making up the soundtrack, but adding Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill, (A Deal With God)" was pure genius. I've absolutely loved that song from the moment I first heard it nearly 40 years ago. It fit perfectly with the the scene last night.

MST3K "covered" a bunch of B movies to the point of making them much more enjoyable to watch. My favorite was a Canadian film "The Final Sacrifice." Probably watched it two dozen times or more, and can quote most of it.

I remember "Up All Night" with Rhonda Shear. I watched quite a few of them, mostly because of her comic relief. If I remember correctly The Greaseman was even a guest on one of her episodes.

I've seen a couple of the Ed Wood movies. So bad they're good. Cult classics at least.
Remember the movie Ed Wood? It was much better than Ed Wood's movies, and even earned a couple Oscars including one for the late great Martin Landau.

Finally finished the series this evening. Overall a good show that I very much enjoyed. Thinking about the ending and if it's what I wanted or expected. Outside of the Byrdes being killed off I'm not sure how else they could've ended it that would have satisfied me. Kind of didn't want Ruth to get offed, but then again she's a Langmore, she didn't know how to be rich.

When Wendy checked herself into the mental hospital I was really hoping they had explored the seeming slide Wendy was taking towards the same mental illness Ben suffered from. Between the slamming of the head on the window, her reaction to her father on the courthouse steps, and multiple attempts to enter the health facility, I thought they might actually go there. It would have made a interesting story line, especially if we saw her trying to hide the illness while working all the other angles revolving around her.

Funniest line in the series:
Rachel (?): "I think you are a ruthless, nasty bitch. I think you have no sense of humor or human f-ing decency. Now I'm gonna go order those town cars."
Wendy: "I do too have a sense of humor."

"Iconic" and "American" ???  I nominate the Dagwood sandwich as the most iconic and American of all sandwiches... because you have to be an old fart to even understand what it is.  See link below. Bob

I'm an old fart.

Bob, a kid I grew up with, John Marshall, has been the Illustrator for Blondie since 2005.

I don't have a favorite, there's just so many I absolutely love..

Tuna salad, fresh sliced tomato, and cheese
Meatloaf and ketchup
Grilled ham and cheese
BLT or BLAT
Spiedie on fresh baked (Battaglini's or Roma's) Italian bread
Thinly sliced roast pork, broccoli rabe and provolone cheese on a hard roll
Scrambled egg and roasted red pepper
A couple shops around here do fantastic thinly sliced tri-tip sandwiches

Countless others depending on where I am and what's available.

In Binghamton, it's a Lupos Chicken Spiedie sandwich or sub
Funny, just yesterday we checked our cupboard and noticed we were down to our last bottle of Lupo's Spiedie marinade. Thanks to an online order we have eight more bottles heading our way. And while we were at it a few bottles sent to our son in Minnesota, and a few to our daughter who lives a couple hours south of us. Summer is upon us after all. Time to make the neighbors jealous.  ;)

Soda for me as well. I almost never drink it, only as a last resort.

Coffee every day!! I brew my own beer and make my own flavored seltzer, so they're all high on my list of favored drinks.

Your thoughts on Lalo still being out there and Saul in the Cinnabun era, is still afraid--I just don't see it. If, as many suspect, something evil will happen to Kim, Saul would have gone into hiding well before Breaking Bad ever took place and not been the open lawyer he is then.

It's just a thought I had although, I agree, less likely. As I also mentioned Mike will probably kill Lalo, thus solidifying his loyalty to Gus. I believe this to be a much more likely scenario.

Just a curious thing, I thought Mike had someone watching Jimmy and Kim's home so how did Lalo get in?

Len,
Just finished the episode this evening. I think your question can be explained by Lalo's call to Hector - Lalo noticed that Hector's phone was tapped; he deduced that Gus likely did it; so he falsely told Hector, (for Mike's ears), that he was going to kill Gus that night; so Mike pulled his various security details (assuming Saul's home as well) to concentrate on Gus's location; which freed Lalo to walk the streets of ABQ. Remember the quick shot of the cockroach? At that instant it made him think of Saul Goodman.

Other random thoughts...

I am starting to think Lalo survives past the BB timeline, and that is why Gene is scared to death of being recognized in Nebraska. He knows Lalo is still out there. Granted, Saul would have been more cautious throughout his time in the BB series, so not sure how that could be explained, but it's just a thought.

Lalo pulled the trigger but Howard's blood is on Saul and Kim. They're responsible for Howard being there.

The fear factor in this episode's final moments matches any scary movie you care to name.
- The door opening.
- The candle flame whipping.
- The look on Jimmy's face.
- And all of the raw horror, confusion and despair that's contained in the only word Jimmy can get out:

Agree on Rev. Jim and Louie DePalma, Norm and Cliff, Bob Newhart, Cosmo and George. The cast from Carol Burnett. A few cast members from SNL, particularly Bill Murray and Phil Hartman. I

I can finally read through this. I originally missed all of season 5 but have now watched that season, thanks to Netflix.  And as of now I'm all caught up on season 6.
S6E3 culminating in Nacho's death had me tied up in knots. Edge of your seat stuff.

S6 E4 certainly allowed me to catch my breath. Not a lot really happened though sometimes the slower episodes reveal more than you realize at the time. We'll see if that holds true for this one. A couple things stood out though:

Kim meeting Mike for the first time was interesting.

And I loved Gus' house (and his "neighbor's" house too). It's not just the underground tunnel connecting two residences, it's the fact that Gus has hired two people as actors to play his neighbors, who go about their daily lives in incredibly pedestrian ways, (e.g., bickering about where the neighborhood ends, and complaining about the shade of red on the nearby home) they really seem to get into their roles. These aren't Mike's guys of course. This arrangement has probably been going on for several years. Lalo and Don Eladio have built medieval fortresses for their protection; Gus has engineered a private NSA network for his. Damn. Gus has some serious game.

After catching our breath on this one I'm thinking Monday (S6E6) will be turned up a bit. Looking forward to recording and watching later in the week.

*Staying out of the Ozark thread until I can get back to watching the latest released episodes.
