with the new stadium on the horizon I think Mara knows he has to keep the fans happy or the seats might not be filled

One other angle that has not been discussed- how does Mara sell to the fan base another  year of a coach who has not made the Playoffs for four years.

someone just said on here that TC had no running game, well I think part of the problem with that is whoever it is who decided on a run game by committee, that concept didn't work and we stayed with it too long before we let Jennings have the touches he needed to get going.

I think TC has earned the right to leave on his own terms rather than be ridden out of town on a rail.
That being said - I wouldn't mind if he decided to retire after this season.

Not because I don't think he's a good coach or he is losing it. But because no coach can turn chicken sh*t into chicken salad. No coach has done more with less but keeping him on without the talent is cruel and unusual punishment for a man who deserves better.
TC will never be fired but he might be asked politely to retire.

My disappointment with McAdoo is the running back by committee, as far as I can see it was a mistake and it took him too long to realize that.

I can't see how TC can escape his responsibility in this OBJ fiasco, he saw what was going on and did nothing. Maybe if he had stepped in and sat OBJ down and had a coach talk with him things wouldn't have escalated to the point that it did. I also can't see how Norman escaped with no league penalties and I might add that the officials in that game were responsible in a big way.

MG I hate to look stupid but I don't see "additional options" to click on, where is it?

I know that TEs need to be able to block but could it be that other teams are not so demanding of their TEs in blocking. Every season we see TEs have excellent games against us catching the ball with short to mid range passes and we seem to sit with no production from our TE because we aski him to be a blocking lineman first and a receiver last, I think its time we just grab a good receiving TE and teach him to block, thats what we did with Shockey...

if Reese drafts a TE with the talent that Eifert has then it might help me to get over not drafting Ogeltree...

thanks for the pictures, you guys all look like a good group of people, different than I imagined because I thought I was the old man of the boards.. ;)

I don't think we've really seen the best President yet and we won't until we get the lobbyists and political party interests out of the equation. I feel strongly that we won't see the best man in the white house until we can simply vote the best man in there based solely on qualifications and not how much money he can spend on his campaign and how much he owes to big business for favors..

Being that this was such an awful LB class - what kind of "top tier" LB did you have in mind in the 3rd Round?

To me anyway, it has become quite clear that the Giants don't draft positions - they draft the highest rated player on their Board.  So I didn't see any top-tier LBs on the Board at that selection.  I am curious who you wanted.
I didn't see any of what i would call a top tier LB in the 3rd round but there were some in the earlier rounds i would have liked with probably more potential but we went to Walmart again for another bargain so all i can do is wish for the best....

At the end of the day, is the pick defensible? Can what the player potentially bring to the table - or the apparent role they were drafted for - help the team? I think that's all you can ask in the draft. Given the uncertainty regarding Smith, the current WR depth, and the woeful return game we fielded last year, this pick makes sense. Would I have preferred a LB? Sure, but I can't be upset with a pick that can be defended.

The team is never going to pick every and all the players and/or positions that we want and think we need. We have too many needs each year to do that. I think you can make a compelling argument for each pick. That's good enough for me.

I don't think there's an accurate way to quantify the statement, "position X would have helped us more at that pick." Based on the crapshoot nature of the draft, all of the players we picked could be stars or not make the team.
I would have preferred a top tier LB as well but after taking a look at the last bunch a Giant drafts it has become clear that they don't value the position the way I do.   >:(

I think the drafting of Jernigan directly relates to the beating the Eagles gave us with their speed last year. We all knew that the  Giants were too slow on defense and drafting this guy is a move in the right direction.  As far as the comparison of Jernigan to Moss goes there really is none because Moss really didn't do much in college other than he had the speed we're looking for....
