The guy has talent for certain spots. The roster is light on talent.

I don't get why he's not being used.

I think he gets in at the first time of asking.

I'm not ready to crucify him just yet - it's only 2 games.

Jones wasn't the reason they lost yesterday. There was clear improvement from last week.

Schedule gets really hard, really soon. So we will see just how consistent this improvement is.

I genuinely thought they would win last week and yesterday.

I'm not sure what to think moving forward.

Big Blue Huddle / Giants v Washington Predictions
September 13, 2024, 02:44:02 PM
This thread is perhaps a day early but I'm sat in an airport waiting to board a plane for a funeral tomorrow - so I'm bored.

So, what's your prediction for Sunday?

I think the Giants win, Jones has a very good record against them and I don't think the Washington D are that vastly improved from last year.

I think Jones has a decent game. Throwing over 220 yards, Singletary rushes for 80+ and a TD. Nabers nabs a receiving TD.

Thibs, Burns and Dex feast on their o-line and there's a defensive score. Daniels drops to 0-2.

Giants 24 Washington 17.

Edit - yes, I know predictions are meaningless and basically sticking your finger in the air. But as I said, I'm bored.

Didn't he have a decent rookie year as well?

I don't know what's worse - the Cowboys laughing at the giants last year or the Vikings pitying them.

Either way, same s**t, different day.

Quote from: Messiah717 on September 10, 2024, 03:36:58 PMHe's the radio analyst so what do you think he's doing every game?

To be fair, I don't get radio coverage here.

And in all honesty, I've ever heard Banks be too critical of the Giants. But a quick glance of his twitter feed, that appears to have changed.

Hyperbole.

They absolutely couldn't. Banks ought to use his platform to competently critique the issues instead of this nonsense.

Quote from: MightyGiants on September 10, 2024, 10:47:14 AMEd,

How many coaches have Daboll replaced that weren't the result of other teams poaching talent?   That high level of turnover and the drama with Wink are more than just "what have you done for me lately".

To be fair, I think the Wink drama is at least a 50/50 split in terms of blame. There's a reason he's kicking around in the college ranks.

But I tend to agree with the overall points you're making - they ought to be further along in the process than they are. But they make the playoffs and won a game.

The long term vision would have been skewed somewhat by that.

I guess I feel whilst criticism is fair and nobody should be above critique. I do find it somewhat perplexing that it's coming from a guy who was one year and done as a GM then out of the league 2 years later. I think if anyone in this conversation is an embarrassment to the GM fraternity, most would say it's Lombardi.  But he's paid to get clicks and views, so perhaps he's more successful chirping from the computer.

Quote from: MightyGiants on September 10, 2024, 10:36:31 AMThe coach of the year seems to have stumbled greatly since then.  What's Daboll's record since he won that award?   Also, with positions outside of QB, the biggest pillar of support is coaching.  So perhaps you should consider your question when assessing the job Daboll has done.

Ah, so it's a "what have you done for me lately" when examining certain facets to the organisation.

That's fine, so long as you're consistent in such parameters.

Quote from: MightyGiants on September 10, 2024, 09:31:21 AMIt's been three years of off-season roster moves.  Why are they no better???

Lots of wiffs there, for sure. You won't get any argument for me.

Are all of those players receiving good pillars of support in order to succeed?

I note you didn't make any comment on the hiring of what turned out to be the coach of the year in 2023. JS deserves credit for that.
