C willaims has an amazing offense also
I say maybe better than the minny offense
He can be like when Big Ben came into the league
Just grow with the team
PS
If we have to pick a.rookie QB next year
Our WRs should also be very good

Josh Allen was MVP material in his 3rd year, kinda hard to compare his book to Jones in year 6.

Quote from: MightyGiants on April 29, 2024, 11:47:37 AMI think Love was more of a leader than McKinney.  We always hear about McKinney's leadership, yet I have never witnessed any direct indication that McKinney was a true leader.

He wore a "C" so that must account for something

Quote from: Uncle Mickey on April 29, 2024, 10:35:58 AMIf Daniel is what we think or hope he is he will come in no different than last year. On a mission. I don't think it was for lack of effort it was just a historically bad OL that messed with his head. It derailed the entire season.

I know it's 5 years in and the fan base has justifiably lost patience. However, it doesn't change the fact that we all have mostly agreed that he has never had a good system to operate in. I think the issue is people look at that it's been 5 years and the talent has yet to convert to high level production. Now some just say he isn't a talented QB so even with better talent it won't make a difference. Well hopefully this is the year we finally find this out. Because if the OL is even average or the WR group is even average for that matter that will be about 5 levels above anything DJ has had to work with his entire career.  :surprise:  :scared:
He came in on a mission and blew up before take off. His 1 series vs Carolina (who was horrible) gave people false hope. Even though it was abundantly clear that we were inferior to a detriot team we practiced with in camp. People just ignored that detriot dominated us in practice because of the generic series in Carolina.

Same exact thing happened at the end of 2022, Jones played well vs a historically bad Vikings D that he had just seen while getting smashed by the eagles the following week and putting up embarrassing numbers but people seem to only remember the Vikings game.

Jerry Jones is loyal to his players to a fault.
I mean, it's good to be loyal but he doesn't know when to let them go.
I don't think has any value at this point, Jerry just wants him to retire as a Cowboy.

Yes, we had a horrible schedule last year, but even with a decent schedule, it still all depends on when you play certain teams. Last year, we started out, what, our first 6 games, against maybe the best teams in the league and it hurts to get slaughtered starting the season. It has to have an effect on the player's psyche. Give us a few winnable games in t he first 5-6 games and let t he team feel what winning really does for morale.
Did you forget 2009? I still remember the Safety everyone scapegoated. CC Brown.

Quote from: Uncle Mickey on April 29, 2024, 04:28:38 PMWas Wink an increasing cancer last year? That was a very strange dynamic to say the least and the defense did not seem like it had a really sound plan many games.

I think so, but more in the front office and coaching staff then the players. There was a cancer in the Eagles' last year, who started out the season 10-1, followed up by 1-6 to finish the season. That doesn't happen because of a talent void. So the front office made a lot of coaching changes. All was not well in the Eagles' camp last year

Disharmony and unhealthy relationships, whether between players or coaches/staff...it destroys moral, and takes its toll on a team. You have to believe in the system and live for it...from top to bottom. It's why you check character and locker room atmosphere and cut bait with certain individuals before things get worse

I would also go with JJ. He has landed in the best possible situation for a rookie, that all he really needs to do is not screw things up.
will he be the starter day 1?

Quote from: katkavage on April 29, 2024, 04:39:25 PMThe schedule folks. Don't forget the schedule. In 2022 the schedule was easy. They played the AFC South. Last year they had to play the NFC West. Lost 3 out of four. This year they play the AFC North and NFC South. NFC South can go either way. Carolina is the only team as of now they would be favored against. In their division, they need to prove finally that they can beat Dallas, until they do, they are underdogs. Philly...we shall see which team shows up. Washington will be better. Don't count on the two easy wins. So go through the schedule. Of course there are injuries to other teams that change the dynamic. But right now, on paper, I don't see more than 7 wins. That's being generous.

Throughout most of my football life, I have been a 'Believe it when I see it' guy. The only real time I let that guard down was during the Parcels years when we knew we were good and we expected championships every year.
Coming out of the draft, most of us get a bit more optimistic, but as long as we haven't upgraded several key positions, again, I enter another season 'Believing it when I see it".
