I thought it would be useful to have a running thread around the various firings that will happen today.

Arthur Smith has been fired by the Falcons. I'm surprised he's lasted this long but it points to the fact that regardless of talent on offense, you still need someone to get them the ball:

If I had to take an educated guess, I think Ron Rivera will get fired from the Commies.

Vrabel might leave for NE, IF Coach Belichick decides to retire.

Giff Smith won't be confirmed as the Chargers HC.
Same for Antonio Pierce (if this happens I'd strongly consider him as a DC in case Wink decides to leave).

Your thoughts?

The Raiders have confirmed Pierce won't be the HC? I missed that story. Wow, that's surprising if indeed true.

Arthur Smith was rightly mad at the Saints tack on score yesterday..but that was not on Allen. It was Jamais Winston who defied him and called a running play score

That's another first round failure at qb and the perils of picking "franchise guys"

Why wouldn't Son Of Al want AP? His players played their butts off for him
Plus .he will come on board with a reasonable salary and some restored Raiders pride.

Be surprised too if he isn't given a deal

After the season the Giants had, I don't think either candidate would be getting interviews this cycle.

The Raiders HC is considered open because Pierce is an interim HC. That does not mean he will not be named the permanent replacement. Their are procedures involved where they have to have a fair interview process. I believe they have to addn another minority candidate even though Pierce is one and may be their guy.

It's my guess... There were rumours that Pierce as not going to be confirmed as the HC.

Harbaugh plays the same game every year... speaks to teams, doesn't get the Carte Blanche from the Owners and then stays at Michigan.

Rosehill Jimmy

Raiders GM spot is open.  I would think the new guy would want to select his own HC

From what I am hearing, he could be serious this year.  Harbaugh hired Don Yee, who is very well-connected in the NFL.

If you get mad that the other team scored on you there is a simple answer.  Don't let them.
I'd rather be a disappointed optimist than a vindicated pessimist.
