But as @afan56 pointed out, it was still a good play by Holmes, because a DPI is still better than a TD, and if it had been called there were still several things Washington would have to get right to win - punch in the TD, make the 2-pt. conversion, stop the Giants from quickly getting to FG range and Mr. Reliable Gano, or failing the Giants winning it with a FG, win in overtime.  So it hardly cost the Commies the win, it just cost them a much less than 50% chance at a win.

The fact that the DPI wasn't called was icing on the cake.

And kudos to @afan56 for making this point when I haven't heard the talking heads go that deep in talking about the play.
