Frankly, it's not really important who plays week one. What's important is getting the draft pick right. Any Joe Schmo journeyman backup (or a healthy Jones) will do until the kid is ready. We're almost 100% definitely not contending next year regardless.

WE get Caleb or Drake Maye and we'll be a lot better quicker than most think. Just look at the difference Stroud is making for the Texans.
