I saw the hit and it did not look particularly savage. It wasn't even a headshot, it seemed to have happened when his head bounced off the ground.

Played soccer with a guy in the early 90's.  Evert so often when he headed the ball he wouldn't remember where he was or what he was doing.  He would come out of the game.  People would talk to him about where he was.  He would eventually remember and go back in the game.  That was the early 90's.

That was just hitting the soccer ball with his head.
