It seems like a personal deal between a couple of former Buffalo Bills

UNLESS there is a plan to move Jones and his contract and the team needs a vet like Taylor on the roster to start next year

Otherwise we are helping Tyrod polish his resume as we are really nice guys

I personally do not see Tyrod as a big uptick from DeVito. Quite the contrary Tyrod has issues in the last 2 minutes of close game

He is a bit quicker afoot than Tommy but not by much

Sidefact- Did you know Tom Landry used to substitute Dandy Don Meredith and Eddie LeBaron on every play?  It worked very well so dont tell me our 2 backups cannot share a half each.  Also dispelling the size myth LeBaron was quite effective at 5 foot nine inches.  Landry did this so he Landry could call every play

Oh well, Onward!!

How has DeVito played in his last six quarters? How do those six quarters compare with what Tyrod did in relief of DeVito in the last game in the second half?

Right now, the coaches believe Tyrod gives them the better chance to win the next game than DeVito. It's as simple as that.

if it were only that simple.  We are building for the future evaluating a 15 yr veteran to see if there is any rubber tread left on his tires.  This is par for the Giants course, people eternally concentrating on the present and kicking the can on the future.

Remember this is the same team that went an eternity earlier this year waiting for a TD or two.

Tyrod threw one TD pass to a wide open Slayton.  The turnaround was engineered by our defense

Was DeVito going cold- sure.  But the play calling all year in the 1st halves has been "WoodyHayes" conservative- hand it to Barkley and throw the horizontal pass to someone behind the LOS

Of course, it's Tyrod time. He's more talented and capable than DeVito, who we will likely only see taking snaps in one, or the other, or both of the final two games if Ty gets dinged out, or because with his current 2-year deal at its end, there is- and hopefully not- anything like an added lose/lose incentive re the Draft.

In any case, I can't see much to be gained from speculating about when, where, and whether either or both may be playing next season.

Cheers!
