Dexter Lawrence was named to the Pro Bowl on Wednesday, the only Giants representative.

"It's the second straight selection for the defensive lineman, who becomes the first Giant to get selected to consecutive Pro Bowls since Landon Collins made it three times in a row from 2016-18.

He has tied a career-high with seven tackles for loss heading into Sunday's finale against Philadelphia.

Saquon Barkley was named a second alternate and Kayvon Thibodeaux a third alternate."

Well deserved by Dex.

I agree Okereke was also deserving. Bobby Wagner is going to the Hall of Fame, so I guess that gives him the edge. I'm still irritated we drafted David Wilson over Bobby Wagner smh.

David Wilson reference. Yikes. Think he one good game. Redfaced  :Faint:

Barkley and Thibs will probably play when the SB bound players are ruled out. Crazy how McCloud won the fan voting for ST player but the players and coaches didn't garner him enough votes to be an alternate.

SMART, TOUGH, DEPENDABLE

MightyGiants

88 players make up the full NFL roster.

Each team should have 2.75 players on that roster

The fact that the Giants have 1 is not good.  I wonder if Schoen has this team heading in the right direction, especially as he inherited the Giants' one representative.

Julian Love made the Pro Bowl. Let that sink in when almost every Giants fan says that none of the players the Giants failed to resign amount to anything. This is why I want us to resign McKinney!

Why are there only 18 defensive players per team? Most teams have at least 21-22 dressed per same, ditto for offense with the rest special teams.

Rich,

I think it's a little early for that, myself. Four thoughts:

(1) The Pro Bowl is known for glaringly bizarre inclusions and omissions (see Engram a few years back and see Okereke this year).

(2) Schoen's new players were all either rookies or second year guys this year. Having pro bowl appearances be some sort of bar for evaluating his performance to date as a GM seems pretty tough.

(3) Schoen didn't have any money to spend on free agents in 2022. In 2023 he did, but he used much of that to retain Jones and tag Barkley. Perhaps one or both of those moves were mistakes, however I think there is basically a zero percent chance we would have had a Pro Bowl QB this year had we let Jones walk, and I think the same can probably be said about Barkley and any replacement RB we might have brought in. So again I'm not sure the Pro Bowl roster standard is the best standard for him at this point.

(4) We do have a couple of replacement players on the Pro Bowl roster (I believe). I know that doesn't count as part of the 2.75 average, but it at least means we had some near misses.

Speaking of Engram he was completely snubbed this season. He's 2nd in the AFC in TE based on Yards and leads all NFL TEs in catches with 104, also 6th in the NFL.

But the biggest snub has to be Amon-Ra St. Brown. 3rd in the NFL in catches and 5th in the NFL in yards and receiving TDs.

Yup.

The Pro Bowl is kind of dumb. All-pro appearances are what really matter for these top players.
