Pretty wild to me how much faster Bellinger's 10byard split is but Johnson ran a better 40 time.

I don't think its wrong to state that if the offense performs on the same level then Burns opportunities for sacks will be limited.

Whether or not Jones should be mentioned rather than the offense as a whole is debatable.

I thought it was a pretty good breakdown overall.  Part of me wanted the front 7 ranked as a unit rather than separating DL and LBs into 3 groups.

Totally disagree with this:

"The Giants haven't had the assets to be able to trade for a package of draft picks that would turbo charge their roster building efforts."

They had the assets.  If Neal and Thibodeaux were considered home runs at this point, this team would have an entirely different outlook.

What fans are "constantly" seeking Aaron Robinson updates at this point?

Purdy #2?

Quote from: spiderblue43 on May 09, 2024, 10:36:42 AMHe's a stand-up guy. Never was a deep threat, but reliable as a possession option. :Giants:

Earlier in his career he averaged over 17 yards/reception for a season or two..  Last year was by far his lowest in that stat with 8.2.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on May 08, 2024, 05:33:06 PMI respectfully beg to differ. Last August there were people on this board arguing that the Giants were going to be "something special this year." I don't think any of those folks, or even a number who were less emphatic but still cautiously optimistic, would have told you last August that the Giant would go 0-5 in those five games.

I think for many of us, the 1st game was a slap back to reality.  It would have been one thing to lose,  but to look completely outclassed was a different story.

Quote from: MightyGiants on May 07, 2024, 11:18:14 AMIf the Giants have an earlier exit from playoff contention, no doubt.

I think if that happens a lot more will change than the QB.  It will be tough for Daboll to keep things under control if they have another 2-8 start to a season.

Quote from: MightyGiants on May 04, 2024, 08:52:38 AMThe only way a team sustains cap health, long-term, is to consistently draft well.  That has not been the case for the Giants for a long time.

Rich,

Quote from: Jolly Blue Giant on May 04, 2024, 08:43:11 AMOne of the things a lot of people forget, Schoen inherited a "cap hell" situation, which delays a rebuild if you stay focused on fixing the cap. And it seems, Schoen has done a decent job of getting it into reasonable shape

Not sure anyone has forgotten it, but he did sign Jones to that extension and made a good but expensive trade and sign with Burns.   Further, missing on OL in the draft has caused the team to have to sign OL annually for more than draft picks would cost.

IMO, for a team that has been as poor as the Giants, the cap isn't great right now.

Quote from: President Rick on May 04, 2024, 08:34:55 AMso on average more than half of each year's number 1 picks are, based on what their own teams are doing with them,  - for lack of a better word - busts.  not that some won't stay around, but these are the #1 picks of each team.  quite a stat.

Not sure if they are busts or teams dont want to guarantee the money a year prior especially since it allbhots the cap

Just a note, that calculation is preliminary.   If, for example, McKinney gets hurt in camp and doesn't play next season, there would be no comp pick awarded (pretty sure aboutbthat).

I think the average is like 14 guys per year get this 5th year option.  So this seems like the draft class is within a normal range for this.

Wish the Giants had the problem of too many draft picks they wanted to re-sign that would command huge salaries.  Although, somehow, with the worst record in the NFC for the last decade they are still up against cap wise
