Two glaring examples why Jones is an awful quarterback. In the first clip the Giants are in a two tight end formation. The inside tight end is running a deeper out and the outside tight end is running a shorter out. Nabers on the same side is running a clear out. From the snap to the time he releases the ball Jones is staring at the inside tight end the entire time. It was so obvious where he was going with the ball that the db covering the out gave up on his responsibility even before Jones started his throwing motion and tried to jump the route leaving his man wide open for an easy first down. Because the guy covering Nabers saw the same thing he ended up wide open deep. To compound that mistake Jones throws a miserable pass that was low and behind for an incompletion.
On the second play the Vikes are blitzing from Jones left. He sees the blitz and shifts the protection and his hot read is a tight end on the crossing route. He ends up holding the ball far too long and when he throws it that pass is behind and low.
These are things that should be easy for a six year vet to see and take advantage of but he can't. No amount of scheming or personnel can save Jones from himself. I'm not buying the whole he's rusty excuse. Those are mental reps that he could have been getting watching film while recovering. He's just a bad NFL quarterback with a big contract. It's time for Dabs to grow a spine and bench him.
