Quote from: Jclayton92 on May 01, 2024, 09:06:11 PMI think teams have made the mistake of trying him everywhere instead of sticking him somewhere permanently.

I thought he was the swiss army knife in college or am I mistaken about what I remember about Simmons?!?!

Quote from: Jclayton92 on April 27, 2024, 08:53:09 PMFormer UCF QB John Rhys Plumlee is signing with the #Giants as a UDFA, per source.

Multi sport athlete, played football and baseball. Arm needs some work but the kid can run his ass off. As a freshman put up 300 rushing yards on the LSU team that won the national championship with Burrow and chase.

I know zero about this guy, but I do know that everyone in that video looks like they are going at half speed except for this guy...

Unsure if he'll make it, but there could be some interesting looks with him, Nabers, Wandale, Hyatt, and Singletary on the field at the same time regarding movement before the snap and during the play...

I think Schoen is much more information/misinformation savvy then we tend to give him credit for in this era of information vs misinformation.

I also think Schoen knows/understands what the questions will be for all actions/reactions and has prepped answers/replies for EVERYTHING.

Schoen appears as if he is a robot quite a bit of the time with IMMEDIATE answers/replies to any question asked.....it's uncanny.

He is a GM of the new age/era whatever you want to label it, but he knows how to answer every question for the media, the fans, and the player all to keep everyone in the "I'm with Joe on this one" type response from the media/fans/players/owners.

I've never seen him in a "cat got your tongue" moment, or stuck for a reply.

He's never given a Getelmanesque reply and I highly doubt we ever will hear him utter any....at least not publicly.

He was well groomed in Buffalo by Beane. He knows how to handle media and information/misinformation.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on March 03, 2024, 05:17:47 PMIf Neal was awful at OT, the position he played throughout his time at Alabama, why would he be a good guard?

To be frank, I don't think he could possibly play worse at RG than he did at RT!!!

As another poster stated, even Erick Flowers became extremely serviceable when moved from T to G..... and I would have bet my last dollar he was washed-up fodder after he was here.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on March 03, 2024, 03:25:09 PMI struggle to see Schoen getting fired after this season under almost any circumstances. Gettleman's tenure was a complete and utter disaster, and he got four years. GMs tend to get more rope than coaches. Considering that 2022 was a good year, Mara is not going to fire Schoen for what would only be two bad years. If the Giants have a debacle season this year (under 5-6 wins), Daboll could get fired, but I think Schoen would get through it but would probably be on the hot seat in 2025.

Good point, however, I believe Schoen will want to ensure he gets more wins and therefore cements his position. He has no history of being a GM, and these jobs don't come around often, so I believe in wins=security in a job that is his dream. These jobs are fewer and more far in between than any other management position in the NFL.

4 to 5 wins has Mara itching to pull the trigger as he's not getting any younger.

8+ wins has Mara's finger off the trigger imo.

I appreciate your input DB74.

Quote from: MightyGiants on March 03, 2024, 09:32:48 AMAs for drafting an OT at 6.  The Giants need something to get the fanbase excited.  Drafting yet another top 10 OT isn't going to do it.  I have to think the Giants go WR or QB with their first pick.
I'd be ok with trading back/selecting an OT if we get an "offer they can't refuse" type of deal. I'm in the belief that we have too many holes & deficits and too few picks/cap space. I'm also in the belief that a winning franchise is built from the trenches out.

While I'm optimistic that Bricillo will improve our current OLmen and along with that "a rising tide raises all boats", however, I'd still like to add a stud RT and move Neal inside to G. So if we could pick up an additional 2nd round pick this year and perhaps add someone ala JC Latham by trading down, I wouldn't be upset.

DJ isn't going anywhere this year. Schoen needs wins to ensure his job imo. I don't think a WR or QB gets more wins this season when your QB looks like he's in a pinball machine every time he drops back.

Just my thoughts...

Maybe a year off would be the best thing for him regarding figuring out if he wants to continue coaching and/or the amount of control he would need to resume coaching. He might also realize there is more to life than coaching football after a year off.

He is moving into the autumn of his life and you know the quotes about how individuals on their deathbed stated they wished they had spent more time with loved ones and less time working etc etc...

A year off to rest, recuperate, and recover will not make him irrelevant. It will make him a year older however for those questioning his ability to put forth the effort needed to be successful regarding physical, mental, and emotional abilities.

100% ok with this for Big Blue!

He'll get hired on somewhere as he moves toward overtaking Don Shula's record. I'm ok with that, just as long as it isn't here or anywhere else in the NFC east.

He's a workaholic who knows nothing else.

His best days are behind him, however, he brings value to an organization and can improve a team/organization that needs a turnaround.

The question is: is the juice worth the squeeze?

He is someone who needs absolute authority and control. Will an owner be ok with Bill being who he is in exchange for the results desired with a team looking to improve or receive results that Belichick has had previously?
