Big Blue Huddle / Re: Kayvon vs jets

I wouldn't get too excited with KT's performance look who was opposite from him. IMO, it wouldn't be surprised if Benton is not offered a contract by the Jets and is out of the league in the near future.

Sounds a lot like the debates we've been having here.

I agree Rich, I can't imagine him and Daboll risking a more serious injury.

In a word, NO.

In my eye test, I don't see the quickness as with Ojulari, it seems that he has tried to set an edge on most plays. That would be a reason for his not attempting an inside move (if he has one) due to his responsibilities. I do see that he has enough strength to fight for his position. I saw an interview with Tiki with him stating that KT is not happy with his role in the D. I, from what I have seen, was overrated prior to the draft.

Sounds like they were contract dumps and teams had no choice but to let them go for low round draft choices.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: NGT - Is Justin Herbert good?

Quote from: PSUBeirut on October 23, 2023, 02:45:34 PMSaw a stat today that said Herbert has more losses since he entered the league than any other active QB.  Have also noticed that he's been injured a bit as well.  I've not followed the Chargers much so I don't know about their OL other than I know they got a good one in Slater a few years back.  I do know they have some elite weapons in Ekeler and Keenan Allen.

Anyway, for the past few years I've felt he's been overrated- that I hadn't really seen a ton from him even though he's obviously got the arm strength to spare.  He certainly doesn't seem to be winning like he was expected to.  I know quite a few folks on this board really like him and wished we had waited a year to draft our QB in order to get him so I thought it would be interesting to check in with folks and see what they thought of the guy.  I watched a bit of the LA-KC game this past weekend and honestly Herbert left a lot of plays on the field, IMO.

So- thoughts?

It's a team game and bad OL will make many QBs look ordinary.

Quote from: AZGiantFan on October 23, 2023, 01:21:27 AMHow far have our standards dropped when a guy who puts up 3.7 YPC and makes a critical red zone fumble that puts the game at risk is being awarded attaboys?  Are we so desperate for any sign of life?

Yes, we are! On a serious note, I thought besides the fumble, Saquon played well.

Like Bill Parcells after his first season, Daboll had to do something. He took the bull by the horns and if he was going to go down with the ship. I think Bill's line was something to the effect, "I am going to do it with my guys."

Regarding Kafka, with the malady of his OL there wasn't much he can do. I would imagine that it was an eye opener for that unit and would think that they paid more attention to detail last week with the HC more involved. Last year we were all praising are new OC. Let's see what happens?

Quote from: brownelvis54 on October 20, 2023, 01:59:57 PMVery good film breakdown. Out of the 10 sacks during the Seattle game, 5 were not Daniel Jones fault, but the other 5 were. The author of the video shows where some WRs were wide open and for what ever reason Jones didn't seem to see it. He also shows players that are out of position (Wan'Dale Robinson) in particular. What concern's me about that is why was he out of position that many times? Is that on the player or OC ?

Its my understanding the Giants can move on from Jones after 2 years?  I think we need to build around DJ and draft a young QB in the draft. One thing I know what some people are thinking..... but no DJ isn't a draft bust The giants failed him he wasn't set up to succeed, we need to make sure who ever we draft gets a chance. It's time for a break up between DJ and the Giants.

I believe that when people say that there were open receivers it's not what we see but the field of vision of the QB.

Rich besides the limitations of the OL.

Didn't he wind up with the Chiefs?

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on October 20, 2023, 10:34:52 AMHow have the Giants jerked Cole Beasley around for years? He has never been part of the organization prior to this season. Are you confusing him with someone else?

You are correct, my bad, I was thinking about Sills.

Quote from: TDToomer on October 20, 2023, 10:12:35 AMBeasley seems to do this every year. He's kind of a little bitch.

I can understand why he asked for his release, the Gmen have been jerking him around for years now. I hope somebody will pick him up and give him a better opportunity.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on October 18, 2023, 01:50:43 PMThis is in no way a personal attack, as he seems to come across as a nice guy, but is there a single person who has been on the team for the last four seasons who has been more utterly useless as a football player than Matt Peart?

I guess Lemieux would be worthy of consideration for that dubious distinction.

I remember in his first and second season the OL coach said of him he has to have more fire in the belly. I forgot which game this season where he had an illegal procedure called against him and gave up a sack in the same series and was smiling. That did it for me.
