Big Blue Huddle / Re: Giants VS Seahawks game thread

Love how Robinson is in the game early.

These fringe wildcard teams are the teams the Giants simply have to beat if they want any success these season.

I'm expecting Jones to air it out and have a lot of success against a mediocre pass rush.

Watch for Wan'dale and Hyatt to have success in gadget play situations.

The D needs to wake up and have a statement game.

Quote from: Topshelf21 on September 30, 2023, 04:14:52 PMCompletely agree. Cannot sign him to a large, multi-year contract...utter nail in the coffin for Schoen and Daboll.

When is the trade deadline? At what record (if he's healthy), do you consider parting ways to receive some sort of equity for him to a contending team?

I would think it's a definite possibility barring his often-injured status and the date of the trade deadline

I'd listen regardless of the record.

Massive loss.

Seahawks will be a fringe wildcard team. If the Giants want to be one, they have to beat these teams at home.

Next man up.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: NY Rangers 2023 - 2024 Season

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on September 30, 2023, 07:16:02 AMThe one thing I'll say about Laviolette is that I read that the players really like him. I liked Gallant a lot and was sorry to see him get fired, but then I found out that the players weren't very supportive of him in the exit interviews

Maybe. I feel like there's too much player power with the Rangers. A different group got Torts fired and the same with Gallant. Neither of those squads were supposed to make the ECF, they were well coached well above their ability.

From what I've read (and it's not much) but Laf is going to get top six minutes to start the year.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Love vs Slayton

Both sides spoke at the bye week but Love wanted 10mil per year. Clearly Bobby was getting that.

But when they couldn't get close, he decided to walk. Which is fair enough.

But thinking he's not worth 6mil per year? I'm not sure I agree with that. Especially at looking where the money was spent on players that have done nothing like Campbell and to a degree, Slayton.

Big Blue Huddle / Love vs Slayton
September 30, 2023, 05:08:39 AM
Julian Love signed for the Seahawks for 12million over 2 years with 5.9mil guaranteed.

Slayton signed for 12 mil over two years with 4.9mil guaranteed.

At the time it appeared that it was either one or the other, owing to the cap situation the giants found themselves in and their contracts are effectively a wash.

With Slayton doing next to nothing (alongside the majority of the offensive this season), do you wish we signed Love and let Slayton walk?

I'd probably have preferred Love, although his PFF grade of 51 highlights that he's allowed the most receptions at the safety position and he's not setting the world on fire.

For me, Slayton plays well in patches but he's not a constant threat.

With the return of Love on Monday night, I thought it would make an interesting conversation.

Quote from: MightyGiants on September 26, 2023, 08:23:24 PMPlus, the next two games are away games (one on a short week) against the Dolphins and the Bills.   It will be an accomplishment if they can get one win out of the two.

Yup, next two weeks are horrible. That's for sure.

That is indeed odd, very odd.

This is the week to replicate the second half of the Cards game.

2-2 through after 4 is more than palatable after playing Dallas and the Niners.

Stated it clearly in the summer.

I didn't like bringing him back.

He's offered nothing through six weeks. Maybe the front office/higher management get enamoured with a player and state they wish them to stick around.

I'd be surprised if that's the case but maybe there's a chance. He's ultimately proven to not be "dependable"

Edit - I meant 3 weeks.

Good point, DB.

I generally play an RB at the Flex position anyway but yeah, if an injury occurs I'm in a slight pickle.
