Big Blue Huddle / Re: 2024 schedule

Makes no sense to me. Our team stinks and yet our schedule is harder than teams who are clearly better.

Quote from: AZGiantFan on Today at 10:58:19 AMI''m not heartened by Daboll's comments about not throwing too much at them and spending one hour on the field (although to be fair I don't know the rules about what the limits are for on-field practice time in rookie camp).

There is a funny series of YouTube shorts about the contrast between how American parent interacts with her kid compared to Asian mom.  When it comes to all of the camps, I want Daboll to be an Asian mom.

You are 100% correct AZ

Quote from: AZGiantFan on Today at 11:06:21 AMIt's not a question of capitulation.  I'm not even a big Jones supporter.  What I am is an opponent of putting all of the blame for being disappointed with the regime for the the last 6, hell 10, years on his his shoulders and the ridiculousness of calling the sea of incompetence he's has to swim in excuses.  There is a difference between excuses and explanations.

This is factually incorrect. Not ONE PERSON has PUT "ALL the blame" on his shoulders!....not ONE SINGLE PERSON HAS DONE THAT. Ever.

Quote from: MightyGiants on Today at 08:45:11 AMNot sure in what universe DJ would consider this good news:

Weakest: New York Giants
Even after earning the worst offensive line grade of any team in 2023, the Giants did very little to improve their unit this offseason. The group recorded a 44.6 PFF grade last year and will hope a fully healthy Andrew Thomas and the additions of guard Jon Runyan (56.5 PFF grade in 2023) and tackle Jermaine Eluemunor (68.7) can provide a boost.

DJ's suffered more than his fair share of injuries thanks to a long series of poor O-line protection.  Hell, last year, three quarterbacks started for NYG and three QB were injured playing behind that line

PFF = Click bait

Quote from: Gmo11 on Today at 10:14:26 AMI think they did the right thing.  That team is very good so they're not going to be in position to draft a franchise QB any time soon.  Goff is young enough, and has shown enough, that he is probably the best option they're going to have at that position for quite some time.

If you think of Goff as a journeyman QB I don't think you've been paying attention to what he's done since joining the Lions.  If Jones put up numbers like Goff has we'd be collectively pooping our pants with excitement and throwing all of the money in the world at him.  Goff is pretty good.  He's not in the Mahomes/Jackson/Burrow/Allen tier but he's probably in the next one down.  And that is plenty good enough to win a Super Bowl with in the right situation.  He's in the right situation.

Agreed. Goff is far from a game manager. His stats are close to if not pro bowl potential

Hopefully Camp this year is boot camp

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Bellinger vs Theo Johnson

Bellinger didn't have as much a drop off as his role simply changed. Because of Waller he lost reps. Because of the oline he was asked to be primarily a blocker. When the ball was thrown to him he caught it. Did his job just fine.

Quote from: MightyGiants on May 12, 2024, 02:54:08 PMJones dropped back 28 times in that game.  Of those 28 dropbacks, he was sacked 7 times, hit 6 times, and hurried 24 times.   Do you think that it's possible (even if remotely) that might have impacted DJ's game?  Plus it was pouring rain

And he had fast feet. Eyes wide open and scared look, locked on every receiver and made horrible decisions. You can attempt to defend it that's fine by me, but he looked overmatched and nervous.

Jones was horrible that game let's not forget that. He melted

The biggest problem in that Dallas Game was Jones played scared and had a deer in headlights look. One thing he must improve upon is success on national tv games. He melts in those spots

Bottom line is a receiver cannot do anything unless he gets the ball thrown his way. We saw Bellinger can be productive in year one. I suspect he will get more looks this year and people will see he can be a legit threat.

I have him as my breakout player this year.

Quote from: MightyGiants on May 12, 2024, 10:20:41 AMJones had 160 passing attempts, while Taylor and DeVito had 358 attempts (combined).  Why are you blaming Daniel Jones for Bellinger's short comings?

I will clarify as u are correct - Jones AND the other QBs. Certainly don't wanna upset the jones or bust club

Quote from: MightyGiants on May 12, 2024, 09:28:42 AMYeah, he took fewer targets in camp, but he didn't step up when Waller got hurt and he had a chance to shine

The Giants did not target him consistently whatsoever. That's not on him. That's on Jones or the game plan or both.

Quote from: AYM on May 11, 2024, 05:18:13 PMThe crazy thing is, the very first drive, the team looked crisp. And then the wheels came off.

This is a very good point and one which wasn't dissected enough. Was it the result of coaching adjustments?...it's a fascinating thing to analyze

Quote from: Painter on May 10, 2024, 10:24:53 AMA) If the shoe fits... B) It had nothing to with you no matter how you may choose to read it. C) It still applies to those for whom it was and is directed who quite obviously aren't bothered in the least by it.

Is that clear enough?

Cheers!

Yeah whatever.
