Quote from: ozzie on Today at 12:41:04 PMthe bottom line is they just want to make money. It's getting ridiculous

I am in no way trying to be a smart-ass here, but is that not true of any large, for-profit business?

Quote from: katkavage on Today at 04:59:00 PMI wouldn't be shocked if he starts the first 3 games. Not sure DJ will be ready until October.

All I have read/heard is that Jones' rehab is on track and is expected to not only be ready for week one but to be ready for camp. If there has been any different reporting than that, I must have missed it.

Since Jones' actual production and numbers have been poor to mediocre overall, if one is a believer that he's not a poor to mediocre starting QB, one must, by default, have the view that other players around him are poor to mediocre. Either way, whichever view you personally take, you're criticizing players on the Giants' offense. You're either saying the offensive linemen and receivers suck, or you're saying Jones sucks (or both). Why are those who are critical of Jones not real fans, but those who claim Jones is good but everyone else around him sucks are? Both groups of people are "shitting on" players on their football team (to use Banks' elegant language). How is the second group of fans more real than the first?

I also fully agree with other posters that there is a very big difference between observing the performance of a player and being critical of it and rooting against said player. I would assume, or hope at least, that most regulars in this forum are able understand that difference.

I personally think they got Lock because they wanted a more durable backup than Taylor given DJ's own lack of durability. I doubt they view Lock as a potential alternative long term solution to DJ, but obviously I don't know for sure what's going on inside their minds.

Lock may never even see the field this year. I suspect he probably will for one reason or another, but we certainly don't know that. So it's unclear if he'll even have the opportunity to prove he's better than what he has shown so far in this league.

Quote from: coggs on May 16, 2024, 11:02:49 PMSometimes I wonder if Rangers fans have actually watched this team all season.  They won 55 games for a reason and have not had a long losing streak all season.

If you knew this team was winning this game during the second intermission, kudos to you, but feel free to share that prediction in real time next time. Any dope can call people out with the gotchas after the fact.

Absolutely incredible! Been a fan since the early 80s. Definitely one of the top five most riveting wins I can remember. This team was absolutely dead in the water after two periods.

I'm very glad the Canes went back to Freddy Anderson...  guy is a total disaster.

Quote from: Messiah717 on May 16, 2024, 08:42:27 PMWhat a disgusting collapse this is going to be.  While there's no excuse when you're up 3-0 in a series a lot of this will rest on Drury's shoulders.  Added absolutely nothing at the deadline to help the Rangers in the playoffs.  Two guys who lack offense and are complete non factors.

It's been a slow moving car crash ever since that ridiculous late penalty in game four, leading to the game winning goal for Carolina. Been a complete disaster since then. Our guys look utterly lethargic in comparison to the opponent.

At this point (second intermission) the Hurricanes are now a favorite in this series. I know nobody wants to hear that, and I don't either, but it's a fact.

Quote from: miss86 on May 16, 2024, 08:35:59 PMI think Atlanta is going to be tuff this year. I think they are going to be a good team with QB Cousins and Giants playing in their stadium. The good part is, it will be much warmer there than the NE.

I agree about Atlanta. They have some legit weapons, and now they will finally have competent QB play. Could be an interesting team this year. I won't be surprised at all if they win that division.

Not as bad of a period as the shots on goal indicated but not good either. They better figure things out quick....

Quote from: EDjohnst1981 on May 16, 2024, 03:43:18 PMI put my son (10) to bed at 6pm. I've been getting him at midnight for puck drop. He loves it, sticks his Bread jersey on and wants a midnight snack with the game. I've enjoyed the playoffs as always but I'm just not relaxed about it.

My Mrs also gets up and watches it with us- she felt like she was missing out after all the noise during the Washington series!

Fantastic!!

Quote from: Philosophers on May 16, 2024, 02:21:24 PM6-11 feels right until I see vast improvement in certain areas.

That's how I feel. We're a bad team until proven otherwise.

Yes we added a couple of compelling pieces like Burns and Nabers, and on paper at least the line looks like it might be better, but we also lost some very good players and out QB situation is less than ideal, to say the least. We also have a rookie DC who is a complete wildcard at this point.

I'll check it out and watch one episode one day when I feel like watching something and can't find anything else. And then I'll decide if I want to watch the rest of them or not.
