Winning is the ultimate goal. You win, people want to see/pay for your product.

We have several members here who gave up their PSLs and tickets because of the piss-poor product that has been trotted out over that past 10+ years.

Despite the efforts to replace Jones, it would behoove the organization to have this kid's head on straight and his ego intact. Throw him a bone and show that the entire organization is behind him and he is the face of this franchise, at least for this season.

And, if not Jones, on the flyer, at least put the #1 pick up there. There's more hope about what lift he can provide the offense than what WDR can. Just sayin'.

I like WDR and hope he has his breakout season. But... what has he done to this point to warrant being on the flyer?

The Giants will go as far as Jones takes them. FWIW, IMHO, he should have been on there.

I thought about slotting Burns at the top of this list, and maybe I should have. Of everyone in my top 10, he seems like the safest lock to play like a star for his new team in 2024. Unlike Allen and Diggs, the 26-year-old is still squarely in his prime, and unlike Jeudy, he's a proven entity with a high floor. Burns has had a double-digit pressure rate every year of his career, per Next Gen Stats, and he should team with Kayvon Thibodeaux to boost a defense that finished 30th in pressure rate last season. The problem is, I could see Burns wrecking opponents this season and the Giants still stumbling because of offensive limitations. So, perhaps unfairly, he lands here, capped, in a way, by the lingering uncertainty around what Daniel Jones will bring to the table.

There are legitimate criticisms and concerns about Daniel Jones, and then there is an unhealthy obsession with seeking ways to put the man down.   The remarkable part is from everything we have seen of the man, he doesn't deserve the hate.  The man is among the hardest working (hardest luck) players in the NFL.  Yet there is this obsession with crapping all over him

I don't see it as hate and/or crapping on Jones.

I do agree with you that it was pointless to mention the offense and Jones as to how it pertains to the impact that Burns may or may not have in this upcoming season. What Jones and the offense do has no bearing on Burns' production.

I understand your point, Rich.

My point is that despite his being 10th in separation yards, that statistic did not contribute to his issues. If he had held onto the majority of the passes thrown his way, 1) he'd probably still be a Giant, and 2) his separation yards would not be discussed.

I agree with you 1000%!

I don't think they were dissing Jones or disappointed in him. The Giants found themselves in a situation where they could potentially significantly upgrade the most important roster spot. You're right - it doesn't mean that he's trash.

The QB order is Jones, Lock, and DeVito. If they made a move for Maye, he'd have to be viewed as the eventual #1. If they liked Maye better than Jones, then, by extension, better than the other two as well.

I don't think they'd make a move to get to a top 3 pick to draft a backup.

If they made a move for Maye, that pretty much says they'd rather have him than DJ. QB is not a multiple player position like WR.

They obviously didn't like JJ at and their actions showed that.

There was an obvious pecking order with the first round QBs and Jones, as far as Schoen/Daboll were concerned.

They were higher on Maye than Jones. They were higher on Jones than McCarthy/Penix/Nix.

Pretty simple.
