Quote from: Rambo89 on October 02, 2023, 10:00:24 PMJust because a receiver doesn't have 5 steps on a defender doesn't mean he's not open.  Jones has to take some shots here put the ball in a tight space.  Stop playing scared and looking to check down.

Thank you

Great QBs can do this. It's necessary at the NFL level. Jones just seems like he's terrified of taking a chance downfield. If that's the case, he might just be too broken to fix at this point.

Second, of course I do. The Bears front office being the joke that it is doesn't mean our front office isn't also a mess, given the players it keeps putting on the field.

When did I attached your intelligence? You seem to be the one doing it going after misspellings in a game thread.

Quote from: kingm56 on October 02, 2023, 10:02:28 PMJones Simply doesn't make those anticipatory throws into tight windows that you see Mahomes in Herbert make; most of Jones throws are simple crossing, post or like routes.  It's just not his game; it's never been his game.

No pocket awareness no instincts.  He's a running QB with Eli Manning's personality.

That's the game lol

You're right, and it's a sad state of affairs that we have no chance in a home game against a hobbled Geno Smith.

He's had the highest PFF score all season.

Quote from: katkavage on October 02, 2023, 10:03:28 PMJones is who he is. You all should know that by now. When he has Barkley back there he is more than competent. Otherwise if you put it on him just don't expect much.

There's 4+ years of irrefutable data that supports this notion; it's been obvious for at least a few years.

That's the question I have is he being coached to play this scared and checkdown or is it a fear thing with him and he's beyond repair?

As awful as they've been in the first half, at least you have the second half to come to grips with the loss and not be as angry at bedtime!  =))

Quote from: spiderblue43 on October 02, 2023, 09:56:40 PMThis is a last place team. They haven't enough essential units even to be competitive with average teams. And major changes to the staff and serious consideration about the direction now.

It's gonna get uglier guys! ~X(

The problem is the same as it has been the last few regimes. A new regime comes in, shows some hope, then collapses into dust the second year. Highly drafted players regress the moment they put on the uniform. The offensive line fails no matter what resources are thrown at it or who coaches it.

If the pattern continues, we'll lose this game, get washed by Miami, beat Washington (because we always do) to get a little bit of hope, and then the bottom will fall out and we'll be wondering if Schoen/Daboll are here next year.

And with a pattern like this, are Schoen/Daboll even the real problems? Judge, Shurmur, and McAdoo ended up the same way as coaches and Schoen's picks so far aren't looking much better than late-era Reese or Gettleman. Where do we point the finger at this point? How many of the Gettleman and previous era scouts are still in the front office? Does the entire front office need to be cleaned out? Ostensibly Chris Mara and co aren't still influencing drafts since Schoen came in from outside the Giants' "family".

Barring that, John Mara is the only common denominator left and I'm not sure how you'd "fix" him.

Worst prime time record by a QB since 1970...

You know why Jones holds it? Because most bad Qbs don't make it to year 5 or get a new contract when they've never thrown for 4,000 yards or 30 tds in season.

Seattles OL is now dominating our DL.

Where's Lawrence and Williams going up against backup rookies?

Adoree has been awful again.

We have much bigger worries of our own but I can't say I'm impressed with Geno's behavior tonight. Get over it.
