The Front Porch / Re: What are we watching these days?
November 11, 2022, 01:47:16 PM
I just hooked up with a Roku and got "YOUTUBE TV". Its great but its very confusing to me. SLG guided me over to where all these FREE "apps" are! Holy Bassett Hound there's a never ending list over there. He told me to check out this one and all they have is old "grindhouse" you know, DRIVE IN theatre stuff from the 50s and on. Outrageous I say. Enjoyable as hell. Something positive has happened here! Its seems like forever since anything went right around here but this is. I must explore more.
you guys I bet know all about this and I've said nothing that you didn't already know. huh?
Well ok , I'm still impressed.
Also I got a "secret site" where it has been told to me that I should get the Giants game this weekend on the computer. Got my fingers crossed!
Best Regards to all Giants fans everywhere!
Just felt like saying that.

There is a material, a "high density poly" something or other where they take plastic and make it into this one inch smooth panels. Used to buy them, granted 25 years ago now, in 5x10 ft sheets. They cost about 500 bucks and weighed several hundred pounds, You cut it just like it was plywood and you could make anything you wanted out of the stuff. It was almost impossible to burn, hard as hell to carve into and if you made bathroom partitions out of it the bums couldn't wreck it like they do metal panels.
Most common use is they do make it into 1x6 and 2x4s and the like , you've seen it as a substitute for wood for decks, or steps and the like. Dont know what it cost to make but that stuff was superior to wood in every way except price. Main point is its pretty much indestructible unless you melted it down by the same process thats used to make it in the first place.
Dont know why we never made a point of building with that stuff. Of course the fact that we still; produce as much plastic as we do makes about as much sense as the French do.

The Front Porch / Re: What is your perfect meal day
October 31, 2022, 11:45:52 PM
Well for me the perfect day would be to have a Nurse present with a bunch of Demerol and a uninterrupted day of watching Mystery Science Theatre 3000. Getting a hourly injection I could just hang out without my back killing me and no commercials from politicians.
 I can dream right?

Hey How come that Drake fella is no where around? Isn't he supposed to show up here once in a while slobbering Gevalia all over the place and bitching about the officials when the Giants played _______? Then go onna roll about how the Louigiville Red Crows got cheated outta free Papa John's pizza when they canned his name off of the stadium?
Gotta tell you guys tho, when I was hanging out in my busted up house with the generator going and no air conditioning he shipped me this gigantic box with a 100 of each size batteries they make! Plus he stuck a bag of Candy in there! See thats the kinda guys we got round here!
But anyway how come he doesn't come around here no more aka Tom Petty?
Stay away from sick people and the French!

Both actually. The really great players, the ones that are always around the top 5 or 10, depending on the size of the tournament, where it is, sanctioned woith certain points awarde,  can slide games around a tiled floor just about anyway they want without a tilt. People like me, been playing since my teens, I can smack the sides or the front of the cabinet on just about any EM game I have any time on. The main tilt mech in case you didn't know is a plumb bob hanging in a metal circuler piece and both are electrified so to speak, If the plumb bob touches anywhere ,TILT! there are other tilt mechs and of course what are called "slam switches. These are a thin piece of metal, like a strip that vibrates back and forth with a weight on its end. If it swings enough it'll contact another part, complete the circuit and TILT!
I beat the current 4th ranked player in the world on a mid 70s Gottlieb EM, He won the tournament, I finished second to last. Guys a weatherman in Tamps. Man he was upset! He lost one game in a tournament where you are going to play 8, 10, 12 whatever the number is. Now I think it might have helped that I have previously owned that same title for a couple of years so I knew the game well. So it can happen, you get hot, they get cold but you will NOT beat them with any consistency. This guy spends every Saturday he is not working in a privately owned building with 75 or more games. I have forgotten how many, He has a standing order for every new title that comes out with one of the retailers for Stern and Jersey jack, plus a couple of very small manufactures.
THis guy will spend whatever number of hours on a new title until he knows the game cold. So he works, sleeps and practices playing pins.
 Hows that for a answer?
Giants are on local tv this weekend and they are the "GAME OF THE WEEK". Seattle man, beat their scrawny asses so I can give xxxx to my buddy who is a Slowhawk fan, the only Slowhawk fan I've ever known in my life.
OK now my fingers are shot again so all I can say is Don't feed the French!

ah crap, I wrote a response to questions about Pinball machines and it was kinda long as it was a long topic and then somehow, some way the whole post deleted itself. No xxxx, and now my fingers hurt too much to repeat it.
But I want you ALL to know, that the Weeze is ,or was , ranked 18,xxx in the entire world last year. This was because I went to one tournament and they keep track by computer. So be very afraid! I am a Wizard! :D

On a typical Pinball Machine your goal is to complete "A" then "B" then "c" and then while something is lit up from doing "A' then "B" then "C" you will then have to do something to get the "special". The "special" is only awarding whatever it is for a limited time while that ball is in play. If you DO get the "special" it will award you with a complete game to the credit wheel which keeps track of how many games you have left to play. say its 3 games for a quarter whatever. THe special when done will kick your credit wheel one complete game, a "free game' is the reward and the object of your playing. This special is "lit" until that ball your playing at the time is still in play. If the ball goes down the middle or out one of the left or right OUT lanes so you lose the ball ang either go on to the next whole game if its your last ball or start all over again trying to get "A B and C" again to get a chance to win some more free games.
WHew! I trust this all makes sense takes a lot of words to describe.
Two states, NY and Minnesota decided that pinball machines that you could win extra games on was a gambling device and made them illegal.
Back then there were four manufacturers of pinball machines, Bally, Williams, Gottleib and Chicago Coin. I do not know which one came up with the idea for a "add a ball" design but Gottlieb went to town on them. With a add a ball game you try and complete A,B, and C again and the special lights up when you get the special it awards you a extra ball right there immediately. The Special does not stop though and as long as you can keep that same ball in play you can continue to hit the special again and again and you can run your specials all the way up to 10 balls!
Know lets say the game has a pool playing theame. So the main run of the games that award free games is called TARGET POOL. lets say they make 5000 of them. THat same game with ALMOST the same layout has a completely different art work and is a "add a ball game" and  is named "Pool KIng". Now they only make like 300 or 200 or even down to a production run of 150 of them and they are only sold and used in NY and Minn. because thats the only two states they are legal in.
This results in them being pretty rare and hard top find. I dig these games up and then do a total restoration on them to the point that they are better then they were when they came out of the factory in 1964 or whatever. THe finished products are down right beautiful I must say. I take them down to bare wood, all new paint, some things get chromed , new parts where necessary, no different then restoring a 1964 Chevy.
Gee I hope this all makes sense as that was a real lot of typing and my fingers hurt!
One other thing though, if I DO move to New York State I won't be able to take my handguns.Ill need to sell them so if you are interested PM me. Ill keep the german luger, family heirloom, legal or not but the rest ILl have to sell so let me know my friend!
ok Im done typing.

well my observation is there aren't any "stick houses around. They cant meet the building codes. IF you rebuild on those barrier Islands you should get professional help. no question. Theres going to be a storm some day where those islands will disappear forever.
