I just finished watching "Father Stu."  As a Catholic, I found this true story not only interesting but actually inspirational.  It's filled with cursing and continued use of the F word.  Mark Wahlberg is sensational as Stu.  And Mel Gibson does a good job as Stu's father.  It's definitely worth a watch.

I noticed on one of the posts that you have me living in Oceanside NY.  That's where I was born.  I live in Gorham ME!  The info about being brought up in Valley Stream IS correct.  Rich, can you or someone make the correction?  THANKS!!! =D>

The Front Porch / Spam Risk

Hi all, does anyone know what SPAM RISK is?  I keep getting telephone calls from it.  This happens at least four or five times each day.  If I do try to answer, I hear nothing back.  Do any of you ever get these weird calls?

(The ventilation system of any building is the perfect hiding place. No one will ever think of looking for you in there and you can travel to any other part of the building you want without difficulty.)
No matter how old the building this same ventilation system will appear brand new.
No dust, no dirt, no cobwebs and no bugs. And and it will always be big enough for our hero to crawl comfortably thru!

Great lists guys. Very funny!

There was dirt in the ventilation system in "Die Hard."

I well know about Meteorology playing a part in the D Day landings.  One of the Officers who I worked with at my first assignment at MacDill AFB was on the Meteorological Staff for the forecasts.

Personally, I was just finishing up the fifth grade in school.  But we kids knew what was going on and everybody was excited.  I watched "Private Ryan" last week & watched "The Longest Day" today.  God Bless all those soldiers who fought on the beaches that day. =D>

NOW, to get back to serious business....... my family is from northeast PA, but after high school my mom (graduating at age 17 in 1938) moved to Philadelphia... that's where the good office jobs were pre-WWII....

During her five years there, she and her friends spend a good deal of time in Atlantic City... where (according to her, LOL) she became an expert on all things New Jersey.

So I have it from the highest possible source (who shortly will turn 101) that it is "Taylor pork roll" which, as you can see, is a combination of the two most-commonly-used names for that particular food item.

Bob, God Bless your Mother!!  101!  WOW!!!

A favorite sandwich of mine that I still make for myself is liverwurst on rye with Gulden's mustard & a slice of onion.  Yummmmmmmm!

City Slickers

Actually as a kid, I watched a lot of the western TV shows. Not so much the movies although a John Wayne was frequently on. Old Yeller and Shane (or is it Schoen) were my favorites then. Clint Eastwood starred in a couple I liked. The way you guys obsess over movies seems like as much a hobby as an enjoyment.

Ed, for me, it IS a hobby.  I own over 2,200 movies on DVD & Blu Ray.  Some of the DVDs are homemade.

Anything John Wayne so I won't repeat several of those in Jim's list. A few more of my favorites.

The man who shot liberty valance
Lonesome Dove
Open Range

And anything cowboy with Randolph Scott

Bill

I love OPEN RANGE & MAN WHO SHOT LIBERTY VALANCE.  I had just listed 25 westerns that came into my mind on short notice.  I just listed those 25 because some of the crap listed by the idiot who drew up the initial list was just so sad.
