Quote from: Ed Vette on January 14, 2024, 07:31:46 PMI would guess if you asked Giants fans which team they hate the most, the Dallas Cowboys would top the list.

Most of their fans can travel poorly and are obnoxious and boorish in our house. They have a good percentage of fans who are fair weather and bandwagon. If you're a casual fan, you pick the guys in the white hats. Even the bragging, Texas Style with the "How 'bout dem Cowboys", can get under the skin of other teams fans.

If you can look past that, the franchise has a rich history of great teams and great players and coaches.

Some hate Jerry Jones because he's an involved owner who's a billionaire and it's easy to hate the owners because the perception is that they're greedy. But he built one of the best Stadiums in the League and he packs the team with talent. Passionate and by far... their biggest fan.

I gotta feel sorry for the man. Again embarrassed and this time in his own house. He's getting up there in age and although he doesn't change his HC's as impulsively as most owners, I don't see Mike McCarthy surviving this year.

I tend to hate eagles more but then it comes down to who is doing better where I tend to lead to my hatred. They are either same level or one inches over the other at different times.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: What do we want in the Draft?

Quote from: jgrangers2 on January 10, 2024, 08:18:29 AMWe're still 14-15 weeks out with free agency to come so hard to say what we want from the draft but here is what I think the Giants still need:

1. QB - Gone into this ad nauseum on this board so no need to rehash
2. OL - We probably need two new guards here but Neal is obviously a huge question mark as well. There are guards that will be available in FA and I hope the Giants make a splash there but also a bunch of guys that will be available in day 2 or 3 of the draft. If they want to move on from Neal, there's 4-5 first round tackles that would be available for us in the draft.
3. EDGE - They need somebody to put on the other side of KT. Ojulari is too unreliable. Another position where as many as 5 or more could go in the first round to early 2nd.
4. WR - A big X type would be nice but I would't prioritize it over the other areas mentioned above.
5. DL - Would like another depth piece here. Again, this is a position that can be addressed on day 2 or 3 of the draft.
6. CB - Can always use more depth

The top 3 above are what the Giants NEED. WR is a nice to have and the others are more about getting depth but this is what I feel the Giants need to look at. The defensive personnel is also contingent on the new DC and what they want to do.
pretty much the way I see it.

Quote from: sooners56 on January 08, 2024, 10:44:58 PMI'm all in on a WR but I am also smart enough to know if the line can't block and the QB can't throw the ball, a WR is just a shiny hood ornament!!! Just can't see the Giants draftng a LT just to move them to RT.  No guards are worth the 6th pick so the Giants are kind of in WR territory only at pick 6. No defensive players appear to be worth the 6th pick either.
I agree the WR spot is near bottom pickings unless an unreal talent. I prefer a QB, RT or pass rusher in the first 2-3 rounds. All depends what's on the board and need.

1. Obviously we hoped the Giants would be somewhat where they were last year, or a tad better.

2. Daboll is obviously fallible. Had some head scratchers. But all coaches have that. I didn't like how they didn't play to the any of the qb strengths right away, as they did last year, and the play calling a lot of times left things to be desired. That can also be put on MK.

3. Defense should have been better with all those miss tackles all season is unforgivable. That is on the players and Wink.

4. Oline coach should have been gone last year. Blame that on the Daboll/GM.

5. ST Coach should have been gone last year. Blame that on the Daboll/GM.

I hope this year has opened Dabolls eyes and either makes sure his OC plays to the teams strengths or takes over the play calling.

They need to find a very solid DC that can teach. I wouldn't be against Ron as a DC (never wanted him as a coach) but open to others obviously.

They need to also find coaches that can truly teach the oline as well as the ST cause they were horrid, no matter the QB in there and no matter the STs that was out there. Yes they all had a glimmer of positives, but mostly negatives, which is why we are in this position.

I truly hope Daboll and Joe have learned from the last two years. I believe even with some of his mistakes, Daboll should get at least another year. I actually thought they'd only win about 3-4 games after watching how things unfolded and the mess from the Def, oline, ST and so forth.

GL to the Giants and us in 2024. Thankfully this year I didn't get the season ticket, most of the games were available locally.

Big Blue Huddle / What do we want in the Draft?

1. If there is anyway to get a top 1-3 QB and there isn't much of a fall off between them, I'd be open. If there is a wide margin then I'd pass unfortunately.

2. We need RT, and a possible Guard. That would give us Andrew Thomas, (new guard or Evan), JMS, (new guard or Evan) and new RT.

3. Pass rusher & another CB.

4. WR

So 1 QB, 2 O-Lineman at least, 1 CB, 1PR and 1 WR. Then of course if we go for a move for a QB it will cost us picks, if we don't then we have several more picks we can use to bolster the team.

Quote from: Philosophers on December 15, 2023, 01:53:44 PMGiants were a better team with a much better roster so playing better defenses mattered less when your own team is also better.  Eli started slow, developed and we got good QB play.  Maybe TD can have a similar trajectory or maybe not.
His line was good, but got better through the years, till their last SB win, when they needed to already address that issue and more than a decade later we are still trying to address that issue. The surrounding pieces were better around Eli. That does help, but you can't take away what top defenses do to a QB and the offense itself as well.

Again, I have no reason not to support TD. Let's see what he can do. Hopefully good things. If not we can hope this time off and next off season they finally complete the oline, because no matter the QB, if the oline sucks, eventually the qb will suck as well.

Eagles then Cowboys (or who is overwhelmingly doing well or are acting like asses) and the skins took over the cards spot as the red headed stepchild lol.

Not a fan of the Seahawks, like the pats till all the cheating.

Quote from: Philosophers on December 14, 2023, 10:56:46 PMIn Eli's first season he started 7 games.  He completed 48% of his passes for 1,043 yards (149 yards per game) 6 TDs and 9 INTs.  He was sacked only 13 times.

I am reading from some folks here that DeVito is not it based in what several games?

Well look at Eli's stats after 7 games on a better team (much better OL) and ask yourself, "how did he ultimately work out?"

Let's give the kid a chance before making such strong conclusions.
His rookie season, he faced the top 5/10 defenses of 5 out of 7 weeks if I recall, when he made his debut. No rookie faced that. It was Falcons, Eagles, Skins, Ravens, Steelers, Cincinnati and Dallas.

I remember how people were ripping him (again people love out of context) lol. Then he had the last game vs the cowboys.

I like TD in the preseason and stated if anyone recalls that he should be our backup over TT. I also said the game he played and we lost in OT b/c the coaches wouldn't let him play that he should've been throwing that ball in the 4th quarter not in OT for his first throws.

His line is much different then the 2 previous QBs had and getting hit year after year affects everyone at some point. Be interesting to see what comes out of this. Like any Giants QB that's starting for us, I wish them well.

Combine Eli in the Playoffs and Peyton in the regular season & that is all that is needed lol.

Barkley stops short of first down which can win the game potentially.

Then they don't allow the QB to throw all game, except in OT.

Makes a lot of sense.

A game we gave away. Glad I didn't buy the new YouTube Sunday ticket for this shameful product.

WTF are they thinking. So frustrating.

Flott has been looking good recently.

First, not sure you are allowed to do that as a player and secondly, hard pass!

what happened to JMS shoulder? And at this point why even play? Soon the team will all be bench warming. Their Drs are cringe worthy. Been saying it for around a decade and nothing changes. R U Freaking kidding me? Argh... Like Mcgoos 3 wrs and throw it to Beckham.
