Quote from: Bigmoose on September 24, 2023, 02:36:07 PMGlowinski is not the future.  I like the playing of Lemieux because it was a chance to see whether he will be a player going forward.  Despite fan expectations, we are in the second year of the new regime and they are still evaluating certain players with this very young team. They need to see the longer picture even if it hurts in the short term. Playing Lemieux against a top defense provided key information about his status, and I have no problem with it.

There has never been anything to like about playing Lemieux. He is not good and not NFL caliber. The sooner he's off the team, the better.

I have no interest in Pugh. My first choice would be to try Ez at RT and push Neal to RG. Second choice would be keep Neal at RT and play Ez at RG. But an injured 33 year old is not the answer and not something we should be spending money on.

McFadden had his best game maybe ever, but he still showed on several occasions why he is a limited player. I think putting Micah and Simmons in the right situations will allow both to be at their most successful.

I'm fine with Wan'dale getting Campbell's reps, but if Kafka is the one calling plays, I don't see what Wan'dale is going to do any different. We have to be bottom of the league in YAC.

I don't see Hyatt replacing Slayton. He'll likely start to get more snaps, but he'll still be used situationally.

Other changes I'd like to see are Flott replacing Holmes, Fox replacing Ximines, and Riley in for Davidson.

Hyatt most definitely should be playing more.

Simmons I'm a bit more torn on. I don't ever see Simmons as being an every-down LB or even a 75% snap guy. He has many holes in his game, and those holes should be avoided by playing him in the right situations. While 30% might be too low for him, I think he'd be a liability if out there the majority of the game. I'd rather get 5 big plays from him in limited snaps vs. 5 big plays and 5 big misses in a higher snap count.

Quote from: Trench on August 03, 2023, 04:48:40 PMI don't believe so. In fact if we closely look at Jones, his tendency is to throw a high ball so the bigger WR are a benefit to his game

Yeah, I really don't see any chance of Hodgins being overshadowed or the odd man out. His performance last year was maybe a hair shy of A+. He was DJ's most reliable and most productive receiver for a good chunk of a critical development year for our young QB.

That type of bond is not going to be cast aside because of an inconsistent Slayton and fragile Campbell. Hodgins is the clear #2 on this team behind Waller, and I don't see anyone particularly close to him.

Quote from: Philosophers on July 26, 2023, 08:38:45 PMExactly how much overpaying do you think a 1,300 yard rushing RB is getting?

Do you think other newly signed contracts are exactly market value?

Overpaying would have been bending over to Saquon's demands for Kamara money over multiple years. Schoen didn't do that, saved the team money, kept flexibility in the years ahead, and he still has his man in camp on Day 1. He could not have handled the situation any better.

Quote from: PSUBeirut on July 26, 2023, 05:38:54 PMCan't catch, doesn't deserve money that pass-catching RBs get.  Nothing to see here.   =))

Overpaying someone when absolutely no one else in the league is doing the same is straight out of the Gettleman playbook.

Thank goodness we have a competent GM now. Signed his man at a team-friendly rate and keeps ultimate flexibility for future years. Kudos Schoen!

There are few people who can best Rodgers on the grand stage of douchebaggery. Rogan - without question - is one of them.

While many are applauding this move, I continue to feel sports are becoming (or have already become) way too political in recent years. When most people tune into sports, they are not looking for a constant barrage of in-your-face political expression. Not the majority of fans anyway. And that goes for both conservatives and liberals. People on both sides of the spectrum tune in because they want to watch their favorite teams and favorite athletes play the sports they love. Period. There are more than enough vehicles and avenues through which to be political in modern life. Sports does not need to be so deeply embroiled in all of this as well. And I'm not suggesting there should be no recognition at all of key issues. Some of that is clearly fine - that has always been there. I just think it has become too constant and too in-you-face, all the time. Ultimately I think this will hurt leagues, who already as it is have major issues with TV ratings.

Counter point. While you may feel the exact opposite, athletes are not there for your amusement. They are real people, living real lives. YOU choose to follow THEIR lives. You don

Not sure why anyone would be shocked by what happened. Pretty perfect encapsulation of who Americans are, if you ask me.
