They drafted good players to build the depth of the team. It doesn't matter if I disagree that they passed on three possible franchise QB's. They drafted well. It remains the same be seen if these players work out to their draft position. It remains to be seen if the FA acquisitions will improve the protection and support and elevate Jones to perform to his salary and expectations. It remains to be seen if Barkley can be easily replaced.

The question is about grading who they drafted. I give them a 4.

Former UCF QB John Rhys Plumlee is signing with the #Giants as a UDFA, per source.

Multi sport athlete, played football and baseball. Arm needs some work but the kid can run his ass off. As a freshman put up 300 rushing yards on the LSU team that won the national championship with Burrow and chase.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on Today at 12:22:54 PMHi SXD,

I have seen you make this statement several times recently.

How would you say "his best years" compared to the rest of the league's QBs? Because that is frankly all that matters. Every QB who has played multiple seasons had his own "best years." All that matters is how they compared to the rest of the league. And if one is going to do an honest, objective comparison, one needs to look at the numbers holistically and not just pull out a few stats while omitting other key metrics.

I think Jones' best year was 2022. And that was hardly a great year. It was fine, but far from spectacular. At best it was league-average overall. I understand his efficiency metrics were above average, but his totals were way below average. The efficiency numbers were boosted by it being a simplistic offense that had him as a short pass-throwing game manager with the offense based on the running game. He was not asked to do much throwing the ball, and he didn't do much throwing the ball. He didn't make a lot of mistakes, so that is good, but it's relatively easy to not make a lot of mistakes when you're not being asked to make many risky throws.

His rookie season was worse than 2022 in my opinion. He turned the ball over way too much to be remotely effective. I get that some fans like to pretend fumbles don't matter and just want to isolate the other stats and brush the fumbles under the rug, but no serious/objective evaluator would ever do that.

All his other years were very, very poor in my opinion.

Just my two cents.

Hi Dave,

I always appreciate your posts and I wanted to say thank you for addressing me in a civil and respectful manner, that means a lot.

I would like to now answer your question regarding how Daniel Jones faired compared to his peers in 2022, which in my opinion was his best year.

In 2022 he only played in 16 games, because they had already secured a playoff spot, so they sat him for game 17, that needs to be factored in, as it affected his numbers.

This isn't an exhaustive list, but I did include the most important criteria, they are the following:

He threw for 3,200 Yards which ranked him 15th
His 67.2% comp ranked him 6th
His 15 passing TD's ranked him 21st
His 5 Int ranked him 2nd
He was sacked 44 times which ranked him 5th most
His 62.9 QBR ranked him 6th
His 92.9 RTG ranked him 13th

He had 6 fumbles which means 21 QB's were worse.

He rushed for over 700 Yards and 7 TD's.

If we combine his total yardage of passing and rushing we get these numbers:

3,900 Yards 67.2 % 22 TD 5 Int 92.9 RTG

This then ranks him based on total yardage as 11th in the league.

Hope that helps in some way.

Alex Johnson, DB, UCLA
The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder had breakout season with five interceptions and a fumble recovered for a touchdown. Played slot and safety.

Casey Rogers, DT, Oregon
A surprise Combine snub, the 6-foot-5, 305-pound Rogers spent four years at Nebraska before joining the Ducks. He's got quickness inside and impressed at Oregon Pro Day.

They love Oregon Dlinemen it seems

I think Schoen is much more information/misinformation savvy then we tend to give him credit for in this era of information vs misinformation.

I also think Schoen knows/understands what the questions will be for all actions/reactions and has prepped answers/replies for EVERYTHING.

Schoen appears as if he is a robot quite a bit of the time with IMMEDIATE answers/replies to any question asked.....it's uncanny.

He is a GM of the new age/era whatever you want to label it, but he knows how to answer every question for the media, the fans, and the player all to keep everyone in the "I'm with Joe on this one" type response from the media/fans/players/owners.

I've never seen him in a "cat got your tongue" moment, or stuck for a reply.

He's never given a Getelmanesque reply and I highly doubt we ever will hear him utter any....at least not publicly.

He was well groomed in Buffalo by Beane. He knows how to handle media and information/misinformation.

Len, I have one Firestick, one AppleTV, and two Roku devices. They're all similar in that they allow you to add apps to access content. Of the three in order of my preference I'd say I like:
1. AppleTV
2. Roku
3. Amazon Firestick
To me, it all really comes down to ease of navigation and layout of the app menus. They all have their quirks, but imo, the Firestick seems more cumbersome for me to use than the other two.

Quote from: jimc on Today at 05:18:35 PMJust a question here. What would have had to happen to make it outstanding?

It's all subjective obviously. Anyone can call a draft outstanding the day after it ends but that can prove totally untrue down the road, and vice-versa. Given how the Giants have drafted for the past decade, I don't think I would hand them an "outstanding" grade the day after the draft under almost any circumstances. They are going to need to prove it to me with these guys panning out on the field before I start trusting them to that degree. There have just been too many drafts in recent years that have woefully disappointed.

I guess if they had found a way to get a trade done to get Drake Maye, and I didn't think it was so absurd that I was opposed to it on that basis, I might have given them an "outstanding" provided I didn't hate any of the other picks. I happen to be very high on Maye's ceiling and would have been willing to take the gamble on him if it were possible. Apart from that I don't think I would have considered it.
