The late Doug Kotar was acquired by the Giants from the Pittsburgh Steelers for this collegiate street free agent in a pre-season deal. The quarterback did not stick with the Steelers. However, you'll see it incorrectly reported that Kotar was signed by the Giants out of college as an undrafted free agent. Not true. Name the quarterback that they traded for him.
I couldn't come up with the answer, so I cheated (i.e researched). Great Story.

That's ok Dasher. You'd be surprised how frequently that bit of history gets reported incorrectly. As for Doug, he served as the Giants version of Jim Kiick, working as Csonk's partner with the Giants, as Jim had been with the Dolphins. Remember Butch Cassady and the Sundance Kid?
Leo Gasciana (spelling) I didn't need to click the link. bradshaw hanratty and Jefferson st joe Gillam were either all "striking" or hurt and the steelers needed qb's for practice.
