Quote from: MightyGiants on Today at 02:00:13 PMFree agent additions

OT MATT NELSON
OC/OG AUSTIN SCHLOTTMANN
OG AARON STINNIE
OL JERMAINE ELUEMUNOR
OG JON RUNYAN, JR
OC JIMMY MORRISSEY

The Giants can't draft offensive linemen to save their lives (Thomas being a notable exception), so maybe throwing a bunch of free agents at the problem...

I have concerns about Thomas' ability to stay healthy. Let's hope it's unwarranted.

They are going to roll with Evan Neal again and already threw a bunch of bodies at the line via free agency. It is what it is. 🤷

Quote from: Jclayton92 on Today at 01:31:52 PMI'm perfectly happy with the quartet of Singletary, Gray, Miller, and Corbin.

The last time I felt this way about our running backs was the Joe Montgomery/LeShon Johnson year.

Yeah, yeah I know "different era, game has changed, passing league, apply-lather-rinse-repeat "

Quote from: Jolly Blue Giant on Today at 11:05:55 AMI don't think in today's NFL there is such a thing as a goal line RB. The days of Csonka and "The Bus" are long gone. Defenses are bigger, faster, and stronger so few RBs can push a line out of the way with brute force...especially when the defense knows it's coming

I think a guy like Jaylen Wright might do as well as any in the draft. He's fast, shifty, strong, and plays with a nasty demeanor and unrivaled intensity. If he sees a crease, he's already trying to thread it

Dolphins took Jaylen Wright. Looks like Daboll is going to roll with what we have.

Quote from: Trench on Today at 11:59:17 AMI think we may see a return of the traditional fullback in the coming years.

I actually thought about that. Maybe not traditional, but a jack-of-all-trades back who gives you blitz pickup, receiving, and short yardage duties. Sort of a Larry Centers-Tom Rathman hybrid.

I hate the modern NFL. If I was younger and not motivated by nostalgia and tradition I'm sure I'd not be remotely interested.

Is Singletary that guy? 🤔

Do we have a goal line running back?

Quote from: madbadger on Today at 09:59:26 AMI'm well aware of that. I'm an a University of Wisconsin alum/booster. He graduated high school a year early with the hopes of being Wisconsin's starting strong safety as a freshman. Was converted to running back due to a rash of injuries as a freshman. He played really well and ran hard and then thought it would be a great idea to add 25 pounds to his NFL frame. He hasn't been the same player since often chosing to dance in the hole and getting dropped for no gain instead of picking up four yards.

By the way, I didn't mean to insult you. It was more of a rhetorical question.

Quote from: uconnjack8 on Today at 10:14:51 AMBecause he said he wants more money and skipped a voluntary workout.

I get that, but we've had players do that it the past many times and forumites rush to thier defense in reminding us that it's a "voluntary" workout.

Quote from: madbadger on Today at 09:37:12 AMIt's a term for an athlete that listens and reacts to criticism from outside the locker room, particularly the fans and the media. If he has a really hard time dealing with fans in Madison who are upset that he goes down far to easily for a 240 pound running back how the hell is he going to survive being ripped daily on the WFAN?

OK thanks for explaining that. 🙂

You know he's only 20?

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on Today at 09:20:42 AMI just don't view Slayton as a consequential subject either way, so I'm not sure why he's getting so much airtime this week.

He's not that impactful if they keep him, and he's not going to get you much in a trade if you move him. Either way I just don't get why he's such a subject right now. He is the quintessential definition of a JAG.

I think he's a notch above a JAG but he works hard and really wants to be a Giant. I don't fault him for advocating for himself. That's just a function of the business. Folks have a beef with him because he's has some glaring drops. Other players for some reason get a pass on that.

Why is everyone so obsessed with trading Slayton?

Quote from: H-Town G-Fan on Today at 12:00:41 AMWhether you like it or not, they have Gray from last year's draft and signed Devin Singletary. It's a low draft value position and they--at least in their minds--have it filled barring some unforeseen circumstance. Also, if this re-build is longer than one offseason (which it assuredly is), there is next year's draft. Yes, 2024 may be painful... but was there a way to fix that in one draft cycle? I'm not positive that spending a premium pick on a RB would have accomplished a legitimate goal.

We will get to see how valuable the running back position is this season. I have no confidence in our backfield right now. I wasn't a big fan even before Barkley left.

Quote from: uconnjack8 on Today at 08:53:26 AMYes it's amazing they put how prospects receive television signals in a scouting report.  Definitely a red flag he doesnt use streaming.

Lol. Yeah I'm not sure what that means.

Quote from: madbadger on Today at 08:46:42 AMNo thank you. Runs too soft, is always banged up and has rabbit ears. Not a good fit.

Rabbit ears?
