The reason to do it is because we think we can use the available cap from a post 1 June designation more productively. Personally I think that is highly likely to be true.

The reason not to do it is that as a responsible employer you need to be cogniscent of the mental and emotional well being of your employee who has a history of depression and is already going through significant personal upheaval.

I suspect this more than any real optimism on any future contribution he might make is why we have been patient and will continue to be so. Better to let him reach his own decision with whatever support he needs.

In order:

1. 3T because we do not have a natural one who can pass rush
2. Boundary corner because we only have one plus hopes
3. RG specifically because Eluemunor will beat out Neal at RT
4. Swing T (Tyre Phillips if fit) because if Eluemunor beats out Neal we cannot then rely on Neal as swing T
5. Edge because we do not have a 4th option worth a damn

We have more 'red and blue chip' players than we have had for quite a while but we also have big questions at key starting roles. Like most rosters it is in the balance as to whether the strengths elevate us or the weaknesses deflate us.

If the new coaches and veteran OL do their jobs professionally the roster should be league average, subject to QB play. I can see a path if enough goes right to give us sound enough foundations to compete 2025 and beyond assuming solid QB play but I will believe it when I see it.

Howard or Campbell if we can sell them on strong upside one year incentive deals are ones I would try hard to get. There are also still second tier guys who could add leadership and rotational depth eg Steven Nelson, Shaq Lawson.

People underestimate Singletary as RB1 in a rotation. In five seasons:

888/4049 4.6 20TD rush
175/1164 6.7 4TD receive

His biggest deficiencies vs Saquon are less of a workhorse in terms of carries and fewer TD (Saquon 8 per year combined vs 5 for Singletary but closer on rate per touch). His biggest pluses are efficiency (YPC) and durability, albeit with a better OL & lighter load.

The question marks at RB are all behind him. Who is RB2 in the rotation? Can Gray emerge and fix his blocking? Can Tracy be more than a pass catcher and third down guy? Will Turbo Miller surprise? Is Brightwell still on the roster for ST and short yardage? We have intriguing options with different skills but none are proven.

This is where the new RB coach Joel Thomas comes in. He did well with Ingram and Kamara in NOLA. He should be able to get something early out of guys like Tracy and Miller who share some traits with Kamara in particular. We certainly have to hope so.

I went poor because until we see it we just don't know.

I think there are enough pieces (with a likely veteran pick up post Monday) to field an average D and Bowen is competent enough to do that. It might be Pat Graham boring but I am OK if it is functional.

On O so much depends on Bricillo improving players individually and as a cohesive unit. If he can then I think we have enough playmakers post draft for Jones/Lock to get us into the 7-9 win range. Can at least one and ideally two of Neal, Ezeudu, JMS improve enough for the line to be league average? Too soon to know.

I went average 3 as the QB Elephant remains in the room but I think the picks are sound with Andru Phillips my only doubt (DBs with rocks for hands always frustrate no matter how well they play overall).

The early UDFA and Rookie Camp tryout reports do not feature any of the 'bigger'names who slid out of the draft but include a couple of DII and III guys suggesting Schoen now has more comfort with the overall scouting set up than in his first year. I think that might also be reflected with our day 3 draft where we have chosen guys more for what we think they can do used properly than what they have done so far in R4 and 5.

On point 3 he is giving the FA and 2022 draftees at both OL and DL a chance to grow with a new OL coach/a hugely respected DL coach. There will probably be a UDFA or two but because of NIL we know depth is an issue so any extra real help is more likely to come from post Monday free agents who will not impact 2025 comp pick and later camp cuts.

Special teams guy and offers a bit of interior schemed pass rush together with reliable tackling but his limited athleticism tends to means those tackles are further off the LoS than with Okereke and McFadden.

A surprise to me with Mahogany, Boyd and Wingo on the board. Have to assume some medical issue with Mahogany.

Good after contact and explosive but raw and older. His superpower is versatility with RB WR KR value. Really nice pick if he can develop quickly with our coach who developed Kamara as that multi-use weapon in NOLA.

Ceri (ukgiantsfan) loves him btw!!!

Like Bellinger he will be a better pro than college player IMO. He is good on first down as well which will help DJ/Lock.

No. They signed five free agents and two likely start. They allocated assets in the draft in 2022 and assets in free agency in 2023. It is a sensible approach as veterans provide more space for the new OL coach to see if he can get more out of at least one of the 2022 guys.

He was the guy I wanted at 47. Like McKinney he was a bit hobbled rehabbing at the combine but on the tape he has all the range you could want. Like most safeties he lacks a top gear to match an absolute burner deep but he will put himself in good positions to make plays with above average smarts and recognition. Nubin has better ball instincts coming out than McK had and is happy to tackle, though not quite as physical. Just a really nice value meets need pick IMO.

I love Nubin, I am OK with Phillips (just wish he had hands). Not much 3T help left if we cannot get Wingo or Dorlus early day 3. Edge depth also not terrific. Several decent TE and RB fits still out there. Still some CBand WR help if we want to double-dip at high tariff positions. Only a handful of guards left with solid developmental potential. Not much at T.

There are still lots of TEs and RBs available so Phillips was a sensible pick. He is versatile in/out which matters in Bowen's system and he tackles well enough which is also a Bowen priority. Lack of ball production is not ideal but he adds depth and competition to a unit with more Qs than As.
