Given the responses of over 50 people to this survey and the lack of a super high preference out of the four available, it is clear there may be a lot of very unhappy folks.

I suspect the unhappiness will be less at WR as folks voting for a WR may not mind the other as much however it could be much different at QB with a clearer preference to Maye.

Just hope fans are openminded because this year is most scattered as to opinions.

Quote from: Gmo11 on April 25, 2024, 09:48:19 AMI think the Giants like him.  I think the Vikings know the Giants like him.  I think the Vikings are going to trade up to 4 or 5 and take him before the Giants can.  And then the Giants will pick their favorite of Rome/Nabers.

That sure feels like a distinct possibility.

I truly believe that fans are focused on the all the mock drafts, media pundits, etc., and the teams are paying a lot of attention to the interviews, time with a prospect watching video together and breaking down film, etc., and being observational as to leadership skills.  This is where I think JJ is distancing himself from Maye.  Unless a team jumps the Giants and drafts JJ, I believe he is going to be a Giant at 6.

DJ has looked "shocked" at being an NFL QB.  He works tirelessly but the stage looks too big for him.  JJ is going to embrace being an NFL QB and his teammates are going rally around him.

Quote from: Jclayton92 on April 24, 2024, 06:56:35 PMYeah the only time I won't hold it against them is when a coach leaves to another program and so they go elsewhere.

I agree with you there.

I think this is a 1st round in which you will want to follow it from pick 1 - 32.  I can see the Giants making a QB pick at 6, then say at pick 24, maybe moving up from round 2 to get their guy, say a big WR like a Brian Thomas.  They may think that while they have some holes in other places, filling QB and WR close the biggest ones and allow them to field a team they can build off of assuming their OL coach can work wonders with the OL.  I would not be surprised.

I think the one thing teams are really enamored with him is his football mind and his personality.  This guy wreaks leadership and enthusiasm beyond what is known to men.  His teammates will rally around him.

I can see them remaining calm as picks 1, 2, 3, happen, but then if their guy (whomever it may be) is there at 4 or 5, I can see them getting so excited that they pull the trigger on a trade.  At that point, adrenaline will be overwhelming for them, not to make a move.

I think you are right.  They want their QB because I think they want to be here working for the Giants for a long time.

Think about it.  All these QBs and prospects have met with hundreds of people from all the football teams.  Easy to forget names or mix them up with names from other teams.  JJ recited all the names as if he has been training with them for months.  That says something about their interest but also about him.

Quote from: Jclayton92 on April 24, 2024, 09:15:48 PMWeird seeing Mccarthy say when asked where he thought he'd go, he said he had an idea, that he'd spent the most time with New York. I've never heard a Qb say a team like that before I don't think.

Thanks for posting that.  Hadn't seen it.

After 39 votes roughly 61% QB vs 39% WR with Maye having more than 3:1 ratio of votes over McCarthy.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on April 24, 2024, 07:22:56 PMI voted for Maye. He would be my personal preference although I'll be the first to admit I've been wrong plenty of times about judging which college QBs will be good in the pros. So if we end up with McCarthy I will be fine with that too, as I will choose to assume our front office and head coach both have a very high opinion of him and his potential. And I would expect them to feel the same way about Maye if that's who we end up with. And if we end up with someone who plays a different position, I'll be ok with that too. The last thing I want us to do is draft a QB we are not passionate about just to tick a box.

I am with you.  Once this draft ends, I will be 100% behind whomever they pick and I won't doubt the pick.

Quote from: Jclayton92 on April 24, 2024, 06:55:11 PMHonestly if we do go wr I want a guy that is going to go up and fight, be a monster, and catch everything. That just seems more Odunze than Nabers.

He seems like AJ Brown if Brown was a true X.

Yeah I agree with you.  A no doubt the ball is mine guy.

I am surprised Odunze is leading Nabers.  Wonder if it is:

1. Nabers size vs Odunze's size for X

2. Odunze considered A+ character

3. Is Nabers really more of a slot/z?

Quote from: Jclayton92 on April 24, 2024, 06:24:30 PMGoing forward I expect about 85% of the Qbs will have at least been to 2 schools by the time they enter the draft.

The only ones that won't will lijely be Qbs that earn the job early in college so stay at the same school or a high school phenom.

I believe it will be a good test in their character.  Ewers did not want to compete against Stroud.  Never even tried.
