In Honor of Mojo and his excellent camp reports we once again create the 2023 Camp Report Thread

To All,

On Friday at 7:30 am, one of my hockey players on a team I am an assistant coach on, was hit by a truck and killed while waiting to enter her school bus.

Evelyn was a friend and teammate to my youngest son and a person I simply thought the world of. The nicest kid, whose personality was infectious, her smile and laughter was something that would put a smile on anyone's face.  Upon entering a room and seeing here for the first time that day she would run up to me and give me a giant hug. One of my favorites.

Her parents Brian an EMT and Missy an ER Nurse are the nicest, highest quality people you could ever ask to meet. We have known them for 6 or 7 years.  Hockey is a long all in sport, we see them 3 nights a week and the majority of Saturday and Sundays at the rink for 8-9 months a year. WE played on Spring teams together and traveling to multiple states.

This tragedy has simply crushed our community.

In the wake of this horrible nightmare, I am trying to help in the fundraising initiative for a scholarship and much needed new ice rink in her honor.

2 outs man on third

Hit to SS

Fields ground ball, throws to first base.  First baseman catches the ball.

Ump calls third out.
Defensive Players leave field.

offensive coach tells guy on third to run home.

Opposing coach appeals play at first.
Ump reverses out at first and declares runner on third
safe, run counts . 




Can the runner on third count even though the third out was declared

I just want to thank you for the knowledge passed down from your baseball quizzes .

Last night in the state little league tournament I had a guy on second with 1 out.

Ball was hit to deep center .

Guy on second goes home, batter gets a triple.

Other team starts to appeal, if runner missed third.

Before the pitcher throws  to third , I sent the runner on third home.  The pitcher took the bait , chased him and threw home.

The catcher catches the ball and puts the tag on him, The runner was out. 

The other team then went back and appealed if the original runner touched third.   The umpire called him out .

I stated that the play was relaxed, as such, the appeal had to occur before the next pitch, play or attempted play.
Play was suspended ,The ump called the question into the Indianapolis office.

Ump comes back , declares the original runner out at home and denies the appeal ; as a result, the run stands and we win the game.


A great play I learned from you , it might have taken over a decade to use it but it was awesome.
