These hop-around-every 1-2 years guys can be red flags sometimes. Oftentimes they're either not very good or they have problematic personalities.
It also feels like a really quick hire. That's not necessarily a problem if Daboll has been thinking/planning this for weeks/months, but I just hope there was an actual comprehensive process here, and he didn't just call his buddy that he's comfortable with and likes personally. This is a very important hire, and I hope Daboll took it seriously. Given that the last O line coach (his hire) was clearly not very good and was just a guy he knew well, I can't say I'm super confident here.
But obviously I need to give him a chance. Who knows, maybe he'll be great. I have no idea. I just was hoping we'd
get a more known name or someone who is in strong demand. This is too important a role for cronyism to be a big part of the process. I'm not saying that's definitely the case, but it kind of has that feel to me.
Quote from: londonblue on January 11, 2024, 04:08:40 AMHe's arguably the hottest young OL coach in the league and he is under contract. Any new HC in Atlanta will be told that Ledford is staying and if they have a brain they really should be delighted to hear it.
Quote from: Jolly Blue Giant on January 02, 2024, 10:30:41 AMI don't think it has anything to do with NIL money, but rather the new coach from the University of Georgia who was the nation's leading recruiter for the last several years. He's brought a lot of players from Georgia with him because he is that popular with the players. He also hails from New Jersey and was deeply involved with high school sports throughout the state and everyone knew him (including Ohio State's QB, Kyle McCord who was personal friends with Kyle's parents). Apparently he's some kind of recruiting guru. I just hope he coaches as well as he recruits
The big NIL provider for Syracuse has been billionaire Adam Weitsman (owner of the largest recycling and scrap metal processing company in the state, perhaps the northeast). Although, a few months ago there was an article that he would no longer be providing NIL money. I don't know if that is true or not He had paid significant money to the basketball program in the last couple of years and is a huge Orange fan

Quote from: Jclayton92 on December 23, 2023, 01:55:23 PMI like Fuaga better than Fashanu because he is a pure RT prospect.
Quote from: Jolly Blue Giant on December 22, 2023, 01:27:33 PMOne of my fears is that we grab the top OT. And like Neal, who made his bones playing the left side of the line, so are the top OT's in this draft, all who have made their bones on the left side: ie,, Alt, Fashanu, Latham, Mims, etc., and they will likely go in the top 20 picks. Do we really want to take a chance on another "great" LT and assume he will transfer to RT without a hitch? Difficult to know
