Quote from: spiderblue43 on May 14, 2024, 04:16:10 PMA healthy Daniel Jones is a big if. He may be shell-shocked already and be a liability regardless. Drew Lock, yes, has the opportunity to impress first. He's kind of a hold-the-fort guy, perhaps passable.

But DJ will get to start if he looks okay in camp. but he has to produce wins asap or will the Giants let him struggle, then get stuck with an injury settlement? Short leash is logical, Also, Lock might be able to exploit
Daboll's offense downfield more effectively.

I like DJ and want him to succeed. He'll get his chance first.

Stay tuned.

I agree with you and I also like him and am hoping he can find success this year.

"Just pathetic. If they think I am paying money to watch this, they have another thing coming. No idea why they are trying so bad to make fetch happen with Jones. The guy clearly sucks."

"Also don't mind the banter. Some people just don't like to be wrong that is all. Jones stinks."

"Not to mention Zak Wilson was a back-up last year, and he is a better QB than Jones; so is Darnold for that matter."

"Whereas here, the emperor is not wearing any clothes and mara loves Daniel Jones, so we have to endure yet another year of excuses for Daniel Jones."

"It is like I am in the twilight zone when it comes to Giants fans and Daniel Jones. I cannot think of one player in my sports watching lifetime -- IN ANY SPORT-- where there was such a dedication to a player who so clearly sucks."

Can you please point out where any of that it says "it is ALL on Jones"??

If not, please don't put words in people's mouths. There is not a fan on this forum who believes everything is Jones fault.

Good one Len. I would find it hard to place the baserunner back at 1st base since he was already going on he pitch, before it hit the batter. But if I were to hazard a guess as to what the actual rule states, I would say the runner must go back to 1st. But I won't be surprised which ever way this one goes.

**Edit: Dead ball -  One from the mound, two from the field?

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on May 14, 2024, 06:16:08 PMAfter I watched that goal and the replay I felt ill. I actually like Schneider and think he's a developing, pretty decent young player. But his complete lack of effort on that play was utterly inexcusable. That's the sort of thing I'd consider benching him for a game over and giving Zac Jones or Chad Ruhwedel a shot in his place.

The problem with that, of course, is that he isn't the only one who should be hanging his head after that game. There are plenty of others, including some who make much, much, much more money than he does.

Lots of eggs on lots of faces. Let's leave it at that and let Chef Laviolette figure out how to cook the omelet before his goose gets cooked.

Peace!

Quote from: AZGiantFan on May 14, 2024, 04:34:31 PMIt is the fact that the opportunity to set the tone and intensity is so reduced that what opportunity is there needs to be addressed with a sense of urgency.  I don't think we saw that last year.  My hope is that it changes this year.  But the early signs from rookie camp don't give me the warm fuzzies.
You make me wonder if Daboll survives another bad season.

A new one, right from today's game. Something I don't think I have seen before.

1 out
man on 1st
Batter with a 3-2 count and the runner going, swings at a pitch in the dirt. The ball hits off the dirt and then hits him in the leg.

He starts to run to first but is declared out as 1st base is occupied. The runner who was on 1st is now on 2nd.
The manager of the defensive team comes out to the plate umpire, basically saying that since the ball did hit the batter, even though he swung at the pitch, it should be a dead ball, and the runner returns to 1st base.
In the rule book, it does state that t he ball is dead when it hits a batter.

What was our ruling?

Quote from: Trench on May 14, 2024, 01:37:21 PMMakes no sense to me. Our team stinks and yet our schedule is harder than teams who are clearly better.

The main reason is our division. We play the Cowpukes and the Iggles twice each so our strength of schedule is harder than the said Cowpukles and Iggles as they play the weak-assed Giants twice.
