Don't really know what his role will be but I hope if he's playing he performs better than DJs paralysis by analysis style of route reading.

The most notable positive difference I saw between Taylor and Jones is that Taylor was able to throw some deep completions. He did this by getting rid of the ball early and trusting his receiver to be where he was supposed to be. It seems to me that Jones never does this and by the time the receiver gets some separation downfield he is either getting sacked or being pressured to escape one. Taylor was able to take advantage of the speed of Slayton and Hyatt.

Hopefully the embarrassment from this loss will have a positive effect on some of the players and coaching staff.

Quote from: MightyGiants on November 16, 2022, 09:35:17 AMNo doubt that is part of it, although if you look the other division teams don't quite have as tough of a road ahead.
The other 3 division teams have played half their intra-division schedule while the Giants have only played Dallas. Weird scheduling will make the 2nd half really interesting and exciting.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Barkley dubs Jones "Vanilla Vick"

Darryl Dawkins proudly wore the nickname Chocolate Thunder. No problem with the vanilla part but I think the name itself is kind of lame.

Now that the dust is settling on the Toney saga I'm left with the following impressions:
- it seems he considered playing for the Giants as an annoyance or at least career limiting
- I'm not sure why he apparently felt that way but the team is better off with a 3 and 6 than with him

Were the players polled on this issue?
According to Manfred's press release current and former players were consulted for their views. I haven't seen a specific press release from The Players Association supporting the decision though.

I can add Rhode Island to the mix. Born in Troy, NY and grew up in CT before infiltrating enemy lines.  8))  I miss the days when the Giants shared a training camp stint with the Pats at Bryant College.

I start reading longer posts and, if the commentary is insightful or compelling, I read the whole thing. If the commentary is boring or lacks compelling arguments I skim it. It doesn't really matter who the poster is.

It's an interesting view however the article does seem to state that the metrics for the non-skill positions are not reliable or complete the farther back you go in time.  It would also be beneficial to see how those figures changed as the game changed. The NFL of 1980-1990 is pretty different than the NFL of 2000-2014.

Todge,
The Patriots proved again that there is not a very specific size or speed requirement for Wide Receivers and possibly other skilled positions... the only requirement is talent and ability... the best barometer for equating that in prospects is achievement stats and this kid has proven he can play at a high level at the position.
Having Brady drop passes on your hands helps a bit too.

Chuck Pagano. I heard he's available and he's been successful.
Apparently Pagano and the Colts are kissing and making up so my choice now would be Spags.

With the injuries the Giants seem to accumulate at WR this seems like a smart pick.  If he has decent hands and has run-after-catch ability (which he's supposed to have both of) I can't believe they think he couldn't be a punt returner.  His stats make him look like at least a good third-and-long addition to the offense.

True to form.  No trade up or trade down and the best available player regardless of position.  I understand the philosophy and agree with it for the most part.  FA and injuries have a way of way of changing perspectives quickly and grabbing the best value at the time usually makes you stronger when those things bite you in the ass.
