If you ever miss the 6:20 post, I'm going to be worrying about you. Lol

Guess number two is always a key guess for me, and there is clearly a luck element to it (barring situations where you get a lot of good info from guess one). If you only have say one yellow in guess two, it's generally going to be pretty tough to get it in even four let alone three, and that happens sometimes even if you make perfectly sound guesses in the first two.

I seem to have brain fog lately. Maybe being away does that. I really thought I was dead today then the word just appeared.

Len, I think today's puzzle was designed to stump people like us that use establishing words.   After 3 guesses they didn't leave us much to work with.

When Ric originally posted the thread, he said it was meant to get your brain working a bit every day. Some days more than others, like today.

Just my strategy today. I had a yellow D and a green E. I figured there had to be another vowel and since all others were grey there had to be another E, but where. I again tried to use some unused letters and got no where, but I knew my D couldn't be 1st, 2nd, or 4th. I knew the second E had to be at the end, so I spent time arranging and rearranging until it just popped out, Once I saw the W, E and knew the last letter as an E, then it was easy. But it did accomplish the original intent, to get the brain working in the morning.

I had an idea the other day for this thread that I forgot to mention yesterday:

Just a thought, but since this thread is basically the same 4-5 people every day, would it make sense to have an agreement that spoilers (ie talking about the actual word) are permissible at any time, in order to make the discussion less cryptic and more interesting? I mean, just posting results with no letter or word discussion seems a lot duller to me than discussing the word itself and you how you got to your result. Obviously, if we agreed to this, then you know to not come into the thread until you have done your puzzle for the day, which shouldn't be too hard to remember.

Thoughts?

I have talked about the word on occasion, but I like to wait until after 4 or 5 o'clock so that it won't be a spoiler. It seems most people have done it in the morning and Lenn is usually the last to post so that is my clue that most people have answered. Tough to wait until 5:00 when you want to discuss the word of the day
