Big Blue Huddle

I had two letters, one in the right place after my second attempt and didn't make sense that a word would work so I walked away. When I came back I thought, "well...I can think of one word now, but it won't be it...at least it should narrow it down". But it was right!

I have had some days where I take an eternity to get the right guess, and then I have had ones where I am done in a couple minutes. It leads me to wonder, which of these two outcomes (on any puzzle, not necessarily today's) do you consider a better outcome:

A. Taking say a full half hour or more to get it in three.
B. Taking under five minutes to get it in four.


Since they don't record time, I guess I would say I'd always rather get it in as few guesses as possible no matter what, but I think it would be interesting if time were part of the equation.

Glad most had an easier time with this word. AND, yes, getting that first letter makes all the difference.

For me, I was just drawing a blank on even a possible guess.   I had the "a" which I knew was the first letter and I had the ends in ry.  I really struggled to come up with a word that would fit that profile, for some reason.  I can see why using the letters learned is harder.  Without all my establishing words there are so many letters left

I have to say the hard rules have really changed the game.   It went from a game I banged out the solution in a minute or two and feel  good about another easy win, to a real brain challenge every day

Well, there is a method to my madness (good or bad). If I have a yellow "e" out of place. I assume it's at the end of the word which puts a different vowel in the middle of the word. Secondly, I then think of two consonant beginnings (CH, CL, PH, TH, etc.) and since I had the "r", I figured it has to be combined with another letter, so I thought of CR, WR, PR, DR, and was going to go with DRIVE, but at the last minute, when with drone. Having the "r" in the right place meant it was either PR or WR and I went with PRIME. AFter that it was pretty obvious that it was WRITE, but it wasn't and TRITE is the only word I could come up with that a letter was left to use 

I shoulda (coulda, woulda) gone with WRITE instead of PRIME, but it's still a guessing game when you don't have a lot of knowns

Remind me not to buy a lottery ticket today.

I had 4 after two and like others had the basic arrangement except for the elusive 4th letter. I really thought I had it with my 3rd line with TRIBE, but no. Going thru all my unused letters, I still drew a blank, then it had to be a letter already used.
