irony (I thought crony was a pretty good guess.  When that failed, at first, I couldn't figure out what the word could be (based on the available letters).  Then I remember I had the "i" still available and I thought about home much they love words that start with a vowel (even if I don't often consider that when formulating my guesses)

I think it's a combination of the two. The regulars here have been doing it daily for many months now. Also, I do think very recently the words have been noticeably easier than what we saw in June/July.

Sorry but this is a derivative of a word and there were several I went through that I passed on.
