Good second guess that pretty much narrowed down my last letter choice to one letter.

I thought of the answer and was so doubtful that it was the answer that I wracked my brains for another 5 minutes before giving up and entering it

Pretty much the same with me Rich - with the letters I had left, it was the only word I could come up with, and doubted it was right and was hesitant to put it in

SHORE
PLEAD
PETTY
PINEY (wanted badly to go with PIETY, but had already used a "T" and the "E" would have been in the wrong place. Couldn't go with PENNY, because again, the "E" would have been in the wrong place. Wasn't sure that "Piney" was even a real word)

A derivative with questionable spelling. Lucky guess.

I had the first and last letters and like the others seemed as if this word had to be it.

Hoist
Ready
Pluck
Piney

Since I had the first and last letter. I just had to decide which of the vowels would go after the P. Since I had the E in there already and it was yellow, it was pretty simple for me. I now had the first, second, 4th and last letter. The N was the only letter that was any sort of word, and as we all know, that was it. PINEY.
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

Since @LennG said he likes to hear the reasoning

stare (my go-to start word because it uses so many common letters)
weigh (More of a word that helps to eliminate more letters than a guess at what the word was)
biped  (at this point, I suspected the word had the "I" at number 2 and the "e" at number 4, and this seemed like the type of word they like to use)
piney (this seemed like a silly word but based on the letters left I strongly suspect it ended in y and this was the only word I could think of so I just punched it in)
SMART, TOUGH, DEPENDABLE

Lenny, Although I alternate first words I chose TRIAL first. Getting only the "I" out of place, I went with CONES next and the N and E were in place so I knew the "I" was either the first or second letter and after exploring both options I went with MINED next after exploring Y as the last letter and figured only dopey words would end in Y... and then had the three middle letters. I contemplated WINEY, VINEY and PINEY. They were all bad choices but I went with the correct one as a best guess.

Good second guess that pretty much narrowed down my last letter choice to one letter.

RAISE - Always my starting word. I play using the Wheel of Fortune method; most common letters and vowels (RSTLNE).

LINED - With the yellow 'I' and 'E', I was looking for a word with them together like CHIEF, THEIR, or WIERD. The yellow 'I' ruled out CHIEF and the gray 'R' ruled out the other two. Then I started looking for _I_E_ words. I didn't use the 'L' or 'N' from my common letters so I came up with LINED.

PINEY - Looking at the available letters remaining, nothing jumped out for a last letter other than 'Y'. I couldn't think of any other words so I tried PINEY.

I usually try not to overthink my guesses. I tend to go with the first (reasonable) word that pops into my head. If I can't rule it out, I'll put it in and wait for the greens. The days it takes me longer means I struggled to come up with a reasonable word to try. I do play it on the hard level so I do use any letters that were discovered on the prior guess(es).

No strategy post today, I would describe my effort today as scratch and claw until the answer was found

INTER (thought I might get a two today....wrong)
INSET (thought for sure this was the right word)

The third guess took me forever. I put it down and took a break a couple of times before finally getting it. If they graded on time I would have had a bad grade on this one. Did not come easily to me at all.

Like Dave, the correct word didn't come easy and I had to step away a few times.

RAISE

WIELD - Having the same two letters as yesterday revealed, I had to come up with a different pattern as I didn't think they'd go with another '_I_E_' word. Wield came quickly and then the block...

INEPT - The first word that came to mind was 'THEIR' but since there was no 'R' in the word, that was the beginning of my struggle. I couldn't think of any other '_ _ EI _' words so I started thinking of 'I_E_ _' and was stuck. I thought of 'INE_ _' and couldn't get any further. I got drained trying to mentally visualize words with that pattern and just took a break. I opened it back up and instead of visualizing a word, I just typed in 'INE' and the word was apparent at that point.
