Daboll went way too conservative.  Let the kid throw.

Gmo11

That's the thing. If you won't let him throw the ball why the hell is he on the roster at all?

Daboll is spineless. You have an injured kicker and you refuse to let your quarterback throw the ball. Just how exactly did he plan to win.

spiderblue43

Daboll is earning a new name...Dumbo. This was a complete failure of resolve to win. This season is a disgrace and I hope they are sellers.

Dumbo should have gone for it late..then kickoff instead of having DeVito submit. As bad as Judge ever was.

DUMBO is leading this parade..obviously scared of mice too.

This loss was on Daboll, I'm still not convinced he deserves a COY last year. All year all I saw was Barkley, Jones and the defense bailing him out. This year he has been atrocious. Unprepared players on O-line and now an unprepared backup ready to even throw 5 yards down the field.
Last year he showed a spine this year he has his tail between his legs. You have SB and 24 seconds left with a 4th and 1 you go and finish the game right there and then.  If you know Gano is hurt and the chance of him missing are high you have to try and get the first down.

Nonsense. Daboll did everything right in regulation. As good as the Defenses were and as bad as the Offenses were, the kickers decided it. The Jets kickers badly outplayed the Giants kickers, and that was the difference.

As frustrating as that game was to watch these are the games the Giants have to win to hang around while players are trying to get healthy and the Offense is trying to find its stride. You do that by players making plays. The Defense made plays again and again. Eventually, it was the Jets players who made the plays in this one.

Thank God for bourbon. This one is hard to deal with but Daboll gave the players a chance to win it. They didn't.

No way Daboll did everything right. He didn't have his back up ready with any go to plays. That being unprepared that's the coach.

This game never should have gone to overtime. The last 6 plays in regulation,

Barkley comes up short of the first down.
Gano misses the FG. (I would love to have known the Giants' odds of winning as he lined up for that FG.)
Wilson catches 29 yard pass down the middle as Thibodeaux jumps off-sides, stopping the clock.
Alan Lazard catches a 29 yard pass.
Wilson spikes the ball with one second left.
Zurlein makes the FG Gano couldn't (and makes another a few minutes into overtime.)

When it mattered, the Jets players made the plays and the Giants players made the mistakes.

Daboll became conservative when he needed to be aggressive.

MagicRat

I don't think he needed to be aggresive, I just think we needed to execute better.
So many sloppy plays in a short period.
We're a team that doesn't know how to win.
Smell my cheese you mother!

Painter

Yes, they got what they deserved with most of the blame falling squarely on Daboll for reasons which should need no explanation. As I have so often said, there are few things as unpredictable as the NFL. And today at least, it admits of the notion that Coach of the Year could be just a millimeter from Choke of the... let's just say, Game as was evident today.

However, while as fans, fickle is our name, let's not go full hypocrite and wallow in the blame game even as some may be ruing the fact that with just a tad more bad, they could be 0-8 and thus allowing to wonder who will write the book of love come next April 25. It's DaBears who have Carolinas potential top pick, ne c'est pas? Might there be a Caleb auction?

You don't think that's getting ahead of my skis any more than Kiper or Jeremiah, dooya? Naw! Just funnin' while seeking treatment for GTSD.

Cheers!

He's been pretty bad since his 6-1 start. And yeah, if you're too scared to gain 1 yard to get the win, you don't deserve to win. And if you're too scared to let a QB throw, then either he shouldn't be on a roster, or you shouldn't be coaching him.

If Gano makes the kick, this discussion would be moot . It was thye right call and Gano messed up

Good job, Mitch, for calling out the kickers which was a win for the Jets. Punters were both a positive but the Jets punter was brilliant in downing his kicks inside the five yard line.

For all the penalties the Jets gave away, which translated to Giants first downs, the Giants seemed to return the favor which allowed the Jets to tie and eventually win the game in overtime.

Pure pandemonium for one of the ugliest games one could watch.

Peace!

I agree with you.  The offsides changed the outcome of the game.

Coaches had the team in position to win the game and they didnt.  Thought that's what coaches were supposed to do.
